Meta (Facebook) just announced new updates to their call ads feature for businesses wanting to get phone calls from potential customers.

These changes should make call ads in Facebook more effective for advertisers. I have several clients running successful call ads in Google Ads, so this is an option a lot of businesses should consider adding to the mix.

We’re announcing new updates to call ads to help businesses build better customer relationships, find more quality leads and reach more potential customers to grow their business.

Google announced some new features for Google Ads yesterday and there were two changes I would like to highlight:

1) The $50000 lifetime spend requirement was removed from Customer Match. Customer Match enables advertisers to upload their customer or prospect lists for targeting, and now with no spend requirement this opens up for smaller advertisers.

2) New Performance Max campaigns enable advertisers to advertisers across all Google Ads inventory in one campaign instead of doing separate search, display and video campaigns.

If you have questions about these new features please post a comment or contact me.

The company also expanded tROAS bidding to Video Action campaigns and Discovery Ads.

Advertising in Google Ads?

Then you should be aware that today Google Ads announced the official launch of auto-applied Google Ads recommendations.

Google Ads "auto applied" recommendations are when the Google Ads system makes changes to an ad account automatically. Thankfully this feature is now "opt in" but initially it was "opt out" and I have seen many accounts were changes were made by the system and the advertiser was not aware of those changes.

This helpful Search Engine Land article has detailed information. If you have any additional questions about how this may affect your Google Ads account please feel to send me a message on LinkedIn or call me at 513-549-3882.

Auto-applied recommendations might save people time but it might not always be the smartest way to spend your ad money.

This short article covering how Uber uncovered over $100 million in ad fraud has gained a lot of attention this week and is well worth the 3-minute read.

While digital advertising can be extremely effective, companies have to be aware of and take steps to avoid the rampant fraud out there.

My advice:

- First, make sure you have good ad & lead tracking in place
- Avoid large retargeting campaigns, especially on smaller ad networks
- Use performance-based ad buying if possible, such as CPA (Cost Per Action) instead of paying for impressions and clicks
- Be sure your reported ad results make sense and closely resemble your web or CRM system results (did you really get the number of leads you paid for)
- Use impression caps so that users are inundated with your ad creative
- Closely monitor your ad results, especially in the first week
- If the ad numbers look suspicious, pause the ads immediately

If you have questions about online ad fraud please post a comment or contact me.

In 2017, Uber found two thirds of its $150 million ad spend was useless. Here's what all brands should learn from its ad fraud troubles.

Just took the Google Ads Assessment quiz on LinkedIn and scored in the top 5% of the 85,000 people who have taken it.

I should hope so, considering I have been managing Google Ads for 20 years!

I reviewed which tactics might be appropriate for various objectives and gave a quick summary of how to set-up ad campaigns in Google, Facebook and LinkedIn based on your objectives.

I also made a bold prediction about the search industry you might want to hear.

The recording of the webinar is available on demand on the Cybervise website and the link is below in the first comment. Please check it out and let me know your thoughts.

Google Analytics has been around for quite awhile and Google has not made a lot of changes in recent years, but this is a major update that website owners should be aware of.

Google Analytics 4 is rolling out and has a lot of updated features outlined in this article.

This version will replace the "Universal Analytics" version that has been running for several years and Google recommends creating a "GA4" property and running it in parallel with an existing Universal Analytics account.

The new Analytics adds AI-powered insights, tracks users across devices and provides more granular data controls.

Recently we have been reviewing the free ad extensions available in Google Ads. These extensions are used to increase visibility, drive sales, and improve performance. Today we're talking about location extensions.

Location extensions are great for businesses with brick and mortar storefronts. The extension shows your business address, phone number, and a map marker alongside your text (as highlighted in the example photo of a Tire Discounters ad).

Location extensions on mobile devices also include a link for directions to your business. It is also noteworthy to mention that ads with location extensions often see a 10% boost in CTR (Click-Through Rate).

Businesses with a brick and mortar location that serves customers or B2B businesses such as law offices that want to target their local geographic area can benefit from adding location extensions to their ads.

If you have a question about location extensions please post it in the comments or contact us at 513-549-3882.
