“I so enjoy seeing all the posts after our annual AHBA Kelpie Round-Up (KR) wraps up. For those that don’t know, we start our 10 days of craziness with an AHBA RLF/BTD trial and end the following weekend with our KR.
I have a lovely Kelpie girl, bred by Trey Rutherford, who is absolutely an invaluable chore dog here at PackLeader Farm. As can be typical, my own dog gets her training on the job, while I am setting up for or teaching lessons. I never seem to have time to trial her. We finished her first AHBA level III title in March and I was hoping to get a start on her AHBA Herding Trial Championship (HTCH)at this pair of trials. I am so beyond proud of her! She did so well and was so consistent, improving with every run. The final total for 7 days of trialing in 10 days:
Qualified 8/8 at the RLF on both cattle and sheep picking up 2 titles and 7 HTCH points. At the KR she qualified 8/9 running in HTADsc and HRDsc picking up 2 more titles. She finished her HTCH on the first day, ending up qualifying 16/17 runs with 15 HTCH points. Darn cow on an HRD run got us. Final awards at the KR was a bit embarrassing for me although I am tremendously proud of her:

It takes a village to put on these trials and PackLeader Farm has the best crew and volunteers! The KR alone saw 268 runs go to the post in 3 days on ranch (HRD) sheep/cows, arena (HTAD) ducks/sheep/cows and open field (HTD) ducks/sheep. The competitors, volunteers and crew kept everything on track while we had 3 judges working simultaneously.
We are already planning for 2027 so save the dates. The RLF/BTD trial will start us off on 7-10/11/12 with the KR to follow on 7-16/17/18.”

I sorted these out to expose some pups to them and while I was taking a break sitting on the bench decided to let Cisco have a go.

New to the crew!

A couple weeks ago we purchased "G" from Rutherford Working Kelpies. The kids decided to name him "Tex". He is settling in nicely and keeping the kids busy! We are very thankful for the opportunity to add him to our operation!
