It was an important stepping stone toward Apple Music and the streaming future.

📌 You can no longer downgrade to iOS 26.1
Apple has officially stopped signing iOS 26.1 — meaning users can no longer roll back to that version through Finder on macOS or the Apple Devices app on Windows.
🚫 What this means
Once a version is unsigned, restoring or downgrading to it becomes impossible.
iOS 26.2 is now the minimum version Apple currently signs.
🆕 Latest versions
✔ iOS 26.2 — released last week
• Adds Liquid Glass slider for Lock Screen clock
• Offline Apple Music lyrics
• Additional performance and system tweaks
✔ iOS 26.3 — first beta currently available for developers & public testers
👍 Should you update?
In most cases: yes
iOS 26.2 includes bug fixes and security patches, making it a safer baseline than 26.1.

Its exterior features a floating roof design supported by slender pillars, giving the store a light, elegant, and modern appearance.
Inside, the store is filled with natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass walls and open spaces that connect seamlessly with the outdoor plaza.

Today in Apple History
(December 20, 1996)
Apple acquired NeXT Software, Inc., bringing back Steve Jobs to the company he co-founded. This pivotal moment paved the way for the development of Mac OS X, and eventually iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and the modern Apple ecosystem we know today.
Without this acquisition, Apple might never have become the powerhouse it is now.
If NeXT didn’t happen — would Apple be the same?

🇦🇺 Australia has officially approved Apple Watch’s new Hypertension Notification feature — clearing the way for rollout in the country.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has now listed the feature as a medical device, meaning Apple can legally enable it for Australian users.
❤️ What the feature does
Apple Watch uses its optical heart sensor to analyze blood vessel responses over 30-day periods.
If consistent patterns linked to elevated blood pressure are detected, users receive a notification advising medical follow-up.
This is not direct blood pressure measurement — but an early-warning system based on long-term patterns.
📌 Requirements
• Apple Watch Series 9 or later
• Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later
• watchOS 26
• Paired with iPhone 11 or later
Supported for adults 22+, not pregnant, and without a hypertension diagnosis.
🌍 Already live in 150+ countries
Australia joins the global rollout — but activation timing is still unannounced. Apple could enable it via software update or remote switch, as seen with previous regulated health features.

Apple has quietly discontinued Flyover City Tours in Apple Maps — ending a feature that’s been around for over a decade.
Introduced in 2014 with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, Flyover City Tours provided automated 3D aerial tours of major landmarks and city skylines.
Apple removed the feature around the launch of iOS 26, and it went mostly unnoticed.
🚫 What’s gone
• The Flyover City Tour button
• Automated guided tours
🟢 What remains
• 3D Flyover imagery for 350+ cities
• Bird’s-eye views of buildings, parks & landmarks
• High-detail aerial mapping
So Flyover isn’t dead — just the tour mode. You can still explore cities manually in 3D.
🌍 Why remove it?
Apple hasn’t commented, but likely reasons include:
• low usage
• feature redundancy
• focus on new Maps priorities
Flyover was originally powered by aircraft-collected imagery — and is still used today in supported regions.
