We recently started collaborating with Hope Services, another nonprofit organization that supports individuals with special needs. Hope Services has been serving the community for over 75 years and operates many locations throughout the Bay Area.
Their team has been patiently waiting for an opportunity to work with Turtleworks for nearly a year, and we are excited that the partnership is finally beginning! Their Job Developer, Melisa, has been wonderful to work with and has already identified three clients who will begin internships at Turtleworks on Wednesday.
We recently gave them a tour of our shop, and they were very excited about the opportunity. One young woman uses a wheelchair, and when her mother learned that Turtleworks was willing to provide her daughter with a real work opportunity, she became emotional because it was the first time someone had accepted her for meaningful work.
We look forward to expanding our partnership with Hope Services in the future. Turtleworks provides vocational training opportunities and a real working environment where individuals can develop work-readiness skills, gain confidence, become more independent, and contribute to the community.
