On Sept 4th Google is switching a tool you use every day to a generative AI alternative...and you have no choice but to use it. Google has discontinued Google Assistant (a virtual, a predictive, task-oriented assistant powered by artificial intelligence that lets you control devices and find information using your voice) and replaced with with Gemini (a generative, reasoning assistant). Not only are Geminis around the world offended (*cough cough* Courtney *cough*), but so are many users. Users who have relied on Google Assistant for commands will be moved toward Gemini, even if they have no interest in using a generative AI chatbot.

In Logan's words "Ugh, another non-optional AI system replacing a perfectly good non-AI experience. Ugh. Ugh."

Do you have a blog? It doesn't need to be called blog, it can be called resources, research center, my thoughts etc, you just need to have a spot where you are occasionally publishing some sort of informational article. Once a month at least is best. This type of content is the REALLY valuable content that is most likely to be picked up by AI searches.

The internet is f*cked up rn and so are our real world spaces. Being LGBTQ+ unfortunately often means constantly assessing risk in daily tasks.

Having to calculate whether a space is safe before you walk into it or wondering if honesty will cost you family, housing, friendships, or opportunities is a horrible feeling. Like we are out here just trying to buy groceries and pay bills, cut us a break.

We know how this feels, so we are always pushing for businesses to make inclusivity intentional in their marketing strategy. If the LGBTQ+ community is welcome in your space, say it. Put up a sign, a sticker, a t-shirt!

You shouldn’t underestimate the importance of making it clear that people are welcome and respected at your establishment. You can use your website, social media, policies, staff culture, reviews, and reputation to communicate your values before a customer ever interacts with you.

The LGBTQ+ Community notices when inclusivity is intentional and appreciate the effort 💜
