The good, the bag, and the ugly. 🖤
For 10 years, I’ve always tried to be transparent with y’all, and while I really didn’t want to address any of this publicly, I’m honestly tired of the grown-woman mean girl games and wanted to set the record straight with actual facts.
You’ve gotta love a copycat… but hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? 😏
I did personally reach out to the appropriate contact at Cherokee High School about becoming an official partner — not just with cheer, but potentially with the school as a whole. My initial email was answered, but after that, three follow-up emails were ignored and I was completely ghosted. Per the CCSD website, I know I had the correct contact information.
I was the first local shop to offer glitter cheer backpacks when my daughter started cheering four years ago. Like most things in small business, once something takes off, others start offering the same thing too including another shop that was once a customer themselves. It is what it is. There’s enough business to go around.
What people may not realize is this isn’t just a little side hobby for me. This is my livelihood. I’ve spent the last 10 years pouring my heart into building this business so I can help support my family while still being there 110% for my husband and kids every step of the way.
Does it sting that the program my own daughter cheers for chooses not to support my business? Absolutely. I’d be lying if I said otherwise. But at the same time, I’m incredibly grateful for the schools, cheer clubs, sports teams, and families that DO continue to support me year after year.
At the end of the day, I stand by my work and what I’ve built over the last decade. Winning Best of Georgia and Best of Cherokee two years in a row didn’t happen by accident. I refuse to let bitterness, pettiness, or copycats dim what I’ve worked so hard for.
No matter who you choose to order your spirit wear from, thank you for supporting small businesses and the people behind them. Most importantly, I hope every cheerleader and player has the absolute best experience possible and of course the cutest spirit wear to match!
As a small token of my appreciation for the support this community has shown me over the years, if anyone can put me in contact with the cheer directors for Creekview, Etowah, TKA, River Ridge, Sequoyah, Woodstock, or the CYFA Wildcat cheer program, I’d love to donate one backpack to each program for them to gift to a cheerleader of their choosing however they see fit 🖤
Thank you SEW much for the love and support. This will be the last time I address any of this because my attention and focus will continue to be on my husband, my kids, and this little business that brings me so much joy. I refuse to let anyone take that away from me🪡Ashley Jensen
