What are you doing today?

I’m gonna make at least one purchase at a local business.

Because studies have shown that money spent with locally owned businesses can generate significantly more local economic activity than money spent with national chains.

That's not a slogan or a saying, it's a fact.

That's keeping more money circulating at home; supporting local jobs, local families, and the businesses that make our communities ours.

So that's my goal today: Make one purchase local.

How ‘bout you?!

💙 Blue on Friday. Support local every day.

You’re ONE uncomfortable decision away from completely changing your social posts.

That decision? Telling your story.

Show us the flour on your apron.
The regular who orders the same coffee every morning.
The crew laughing between jobs.
You unlocking the door before the rest of town is awake.

When people feel connected to the story behind your business, they stop scrolling. They remember you. They share your story with others. More importantly, they walk through your front door to learn more.

Step out of your comfort zone.

STOP posting generic graphics. Start telling stories

Venting Post:

Doesn't it bother anyone that some municipalities, organizations, and small businesses are actually paying (overpaying?) staff and administrative assistants to "copy + paste" AI slop on to social media platforms?

Some posts have been so bad, they left the AI prompt in the caption! How lazy do you have to be to not even take 30 seconds to proofread a caption?

For both clients and myself, I rough-draft a caption -- even if it is a 3-word phrase -- say it out loud a couple times, before I finalize it. I have been copywriting for 15 years -- long before AI. I have endured every trend and adjusted for every change, to stay on top of my game.

Have I used AI graphics in the past? Absolutely. I used AI to hone the logo I created for my husband's business. But, 1. I am a Brand and Content loyalist. You create a brand and all content is consistent with that brand. 2. AI is destroying our environment. And I happen to love green grass, trees, and wildlife. 3. I am a Strategist. I'm always thinking ahead, reading stats, creating next steps based on business need and ROI -- SOMETHING AI CANNOT DO!

Yet, on the daily I observe offices, nonprofits, and businesses churn out dull, pointless AI posts by paid staff for - what I can only assume is much more than I make.

I pride myself on my work. And this slop, that is on FB that people are paid to post, just astounds me.

Cape Vincent welcomed U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-24) to town this morning for a roundtable discussion on local priorities and progress.

The visit began at 9:30 AM with opening remarks from Town Supervisor Christine Stark, followed by a community overview covering Cape Vincent's economic landscape, key strengths, and priority needs. Local leaders and residents discussed ongoing projects and initiatives directly with the Congresswoman, with the Waterfront Project and Water District #7 as top priorities.

A significant highlight: of the $2 million requested for Cape Vincent, $850,000 has moved forward in Congresswoman Tenney's Discretionary Budget request as part of the Federal Budget process, a major step forward for these local priorities.

Rep. Tenney also joined Supervisor Stark for a windshield tour of key project sites: the Club Street Project, Tibbetts Point Lighthouse, and Water District #7.

The visit concluded around 10:30 AM with a press conference outside the Town offices, covered by WWNY 7 News, where Supervisor Stark presented Rep. Tenney with a basket of Cape Vincent-made products, including the basket woven from fisherman's netting.

Thank you to Congresswoman Tenney for taking the time to see our community firsthand, and to everyone who took part in today's roundtable: Christine Stark, Patricia Bach, Mary Farrell, Jerry Golden, Marty Mason, Mike Bell, Matt Cooper and David Powers (Barton & Loguidice), Bill Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Smashee, Tina Bell, and Jennifer Van Reenen.
