Today’s Lesson: Logo Misuse 🚫
Let’s talk about something that’s been popping up a lot: Copyright + Trademark Infringement. 👀
Nearly 15 years ago, I got my start in social media consulting, working with large corporations -- which meant my work had to be reviewed by a legal team first. So, my understanding of the legal side of copywriting, branding, and content? That’s been part of my foundation from day one.
And lately, I’ve been seeing some things.
Think on this for a moment: “Modifying logos or photos without permission generally constitutes copyright or trademark infringement.”
Let that sink in.
Now think about all those AI-generated flyers floating around. Logos look a little off, colors are tweaked, proportions are weird, fonts are changed.
Even if it looks harmless, it’s not!
And sure, you can assume permission was given.
But if that logo was pulled from Google or downloaded from a page? 🚩
That’s where things get murky.
So, here’s your easy rule of thumb:
✔️ Ask permission before using any business logo or photo
✔️ Do NOT alter it in any way
That’s it. That’s the post.
Simple. Respectful. Professional.
