General information
The ABC’s of Music is a program geared towards adolescents and young adults (middle school and high school) with a focus on the business and craft of making music. It will also serve as a venue for the local participants and visiting artists to perform and provide educational programs related to the music industry. The goal is to engage adolescents and young adults in activities that increase knowledge, build skills, and increase job awareness in the fields associated with performing, composing, recording/mixing and marketing music. Events are held at the Carbondale Public Library each month. Six, two hour presentations given by industry professionals (bands, musicians, producers) focus on various themes related to the composition and performance of music as well as the business aspects of the music industry. These presentations include discussion and performance segments. Another six, one hour events features performances by adolescent or young adults performers. All performers are paid.
