Ansel Adams was commissioned to take photographs of the Carlsbad Caverns back in the '30s. He said it was his worst work ever. Although he doubted his work the photographs that he took were still gorgeous. I can understand his frustration of taking pictures in a cave, it is hard to get a good sense of size of how grandiose these structures really are.
