A look into a $10K brand, packaging, and naming project for Maeve. đŸ€

The founders came to us with a *really* clear vision for a skincare line for motherhood and growing bellies, and our job was to take that and actually bring it to life in a way that felt aligned across everything.

We always start with strategy and really understanding the brand first, then move into moodboards so we can visually see where it’s going before we ever touch naming.

From there we went deep into ideation and brainstorming (lots of back and forth, lots of iterations) until we landed on a name that actually felt right. Then we moved into a full brand intensive and packaging, which is where everything really started to come together.

There’s a point in business where things are *technically* working, but the work itself doesn’t feel as fulfilling anymore.

Clients are coming in, projects are moving, and from the outside it can look like momentum. But internally, there’s this quiet sense of being capped or stretched or a little disconnected from the kind of work you actually WANT to be doing.

When I see this show up, it’s usually not because someone has lost their passion or stopped caring. Most of the time, it’s because their role hasn’t shifted yet. They’re still deeply rooted in ex*****on, even though the business is asking for a different kind of leadership.

A “good” project can pay well, look nice in your portfolio, and come from kind clients, but still feel underwhelming when your thinking and perspective aren’t what’s being valued yet.

This transition, from doing the work to leading the work, is something most designers aren’t taught how to navigate. Without clear systems, team structure, and a defined leadership role, the business keeps pulling you back into the day-to-day, no matter how capable you are!!

Do you actually need to be the face of your brand? 👀

If you’re building a beauty, wellness, or fashion brand, especially in DTC, then you’ve probably wrestled with this *exact* tension. And the truth is
there’s no one-size-fits-all answer!

But there does need to be a face. A role. A person who connects your product to REAL people.

 but you’re definitely not scaled.

I like to call it...the messy middle. đŸ€Ł

You’ve got clients, you’re booked out, you’re doing everything right, and yet growth *still* feels out of reach. Because no one teaches you how to build margin with your time, your money, or your brain.

If we were to start a wellness brand TODAY, we'd definitely skip the sad beige aesthetic and all of the "zen" clichés.

That's not just a personal preference...it's STRATEGIC. We've worked with too many wellness brands that come to us with that exact branding, and there's a reason it doesn't work.

→ Pick a hill to die on. Are you anti-diet culture? Obsessed with science-backed rituals? Say it LOUD and proud.

→ Design that makes customers look twice. Forget the leafy greens and muted neutrals. Shake it up with something bold, unexpected, and impossible to forget.

→ Brand voice that actuallyyy talks like a human. Less “nourish your soul,” more “let’s actually fix your gut.”

→ Authority from day one. Instead of trying to please everyone, go all in on your niche. Thought leadership, strategic content, and unapologetically owning your space.

→ Proof you can’t ignore. Utilize the heck out of client results. Post social proof that makes it impossible for them to scroll past you.

It was a “refreshing our email to feel something” type of slow. 😅

THIS year, we're booked until June!! (Yes, even during what’s usually our slow season.)

We just got wayyy more intentional with how we show up. No more random posts or hoping something sticks. We honed in on our message, showcased the strategy behind our work, and started speaking *directly* to the brands we actually want to work with.

but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been rocky getting to this point.

In the early days of my business, I genuinely thought I had to do everything myself. I didn’t know what to outsource first, who to hire, or how to stop being the bottleneck in every project. I kept thinking, “If I just work harder, I’ll figure it out.” đŸ« 

That’s not how it works lol.

Over time (and a lot of learning the hard way), I finally landed on a structure that lets me lead as the creative director and strategist while having the right people in the right roles to support our clients and deliver truly high-level work.
