šŸšØ Heads up to all PayPal users! šŸšØ

Please make it a habit to check your PayPal accounts regularly. Iā€™ve recently been targeted by a scam where individuals sent me a penny from multiple active PayPal accounts, followed by an email asking me to click a link if the transaction didnā€™t look right.

āš ļø DO NOT click anything. This appears to be a phishing attempt.

When I contacted PayPal, they werenā€™t very helpfulā€”at least not until I mentioned potential legal action. Some of the accounts that sent the penny have since reversed the transaction. For the rest, PayPal actually asked if I wanted to donate the funds to charity! šŸ˜³ I said no and requested they be returned to the original accounts.

Also worth noting:

You canā€™t delete your PayPal account if there's any money in it.

PayPal requires an active credit card on file, which Iā€™ve since removed just to be safe.

Stay alert out there. These scams are getting sneakier. šŸ•µļøā€ā™‚ļøšŸ’»
