This Week’s Fix: Showcase Proof, Not Promises.

Saying “We’re reliable” doesn’t build trust.

Showing proof does.

Most small businesses underuse testimonials, before/afters, and real customer stories.

Here’s the fix:

This week, create one post that includes:

• A real customer result
• A specific problem they had
• The measurable improvement
• A short quote from them

That’s proof-based marketing.

Why This Works

People believe other customers more than they believe ads.

Specific results build credibility.

Credibility shortens the buying decision.

Action Step (Do This Today)

Take one positive review and rewrite it into a story format:

“Last week, a customer called because…”

End with:

“If you’re dealing with something similar, message us.”

If you want help turning reviews into lead-generating assets, message me FIX.

Most trade companies are wasting thousands on marketing. Here's why very few are doing it in a way that actually generates consistent calls.

I talk to HVAC companies, plumbers, electricians, roofers, and painters all the time who are spending thousands on websites, SEO, ads, and social media… yet they still can’t answer a simple question:

Where are our leads actually coming from?

The issue usually isn’t effort.

It’s that most marketing is disconnected.

• The website says one thing
• Social media shows something else
• Ads run without clear targeting
• SEO blogs get posted but never drive real calls

When everything is scattered, marketing becomes activity instead of a system.

In this new article I explain:

✔ Why many trade companies waste thousands on marketing
✔ The hidden problem with cookie-cutter marketing packages
✔ How aligned marketing systems generate consistent calls
✔ What trade businesses should focus on instead

If your marketing feels expensive, confusing, or hard to measure, this will likely resonate.

This Week’s Fix: Answer the Questions They’re Already Asking.

Most business owners guess what to post.

Instead, listen.

Your customers are already telling you what content to create.

Here’s the fix:

This week, write down the last 5 questions customers asked you.

Now create:

• One post answering one of those questions
• One short video explaining another
• One FAQ-style post addressing a third

No guessing. Just answering.

Why This Works

Search engines reward answers.
Social media rewards usefulness.

When you answer real questions, you attract people actively looking for solutions.

You move from marketing…
to being a trusted resource.

Action Step (Do This Today)

Create one post that starts with:

“People ask us all the time…”

Then answer clearly.

Invite more questions in the comments.

If you want help building a content plan that actually brings leads, message me FIX.

Most trade companies are still pouring huge amounts of money into traditional advertising.

Billboards.
Radio spots.
Cable ads.
Local TV commercials.

And many of them assume that’s just the cost of “getting your name out there.”

But when you actually look at the numbers, the math becomes uncomfortable.

A typical billboard in the U.S. averages around $3,900 per month, with many running between $1,000 and $5,000 monthly depending on location.

That means a single billboard can easily cost:

$12,000 – $48,000 per year

…and that’s just for one location.

Radio isn’t much different.

A 30-second radio spot can cost anywhere from under $100 to over $1,000 per airing depending on the market and time slot.

Run that ad a few times per week for a year and you can easily spend tens of thousands of dollars just repeating the same message.

Then there’s local TV.

A 30-second local TV ad typically costs between $200 and $3,000 per airing, and producing the commercial itself can cost $3,000 to $50,000 or more depending on quality.

So many local companies quietly spend $20,000 – $50,000 a year on traditional advertising.

And here’s the uncomfortable question most people never ask:

What did it actually produce?

Because the truth is…

A billboard shows your name.

A radio ad plays your jingle.

A TV commercial interrupts someone’s show.

But none of those things actually show people how good you are at your work.

That’s where the shift is happening.

Instead of paying for short moments of exposure, smart companies are building continuous visibility online.

Instead of a billboard that someone glances at for two seconds…

People see:

• Your technicians working
• Problems being diagnosed
• Repairs being explained
• Real homes being helped
• Tips that save homeowners money

And they don’t just see it once.

They see it every week.

Over time something powerful happens.

You stop being just another contractor.

You become the company they already recognize.

The one whose work they’ve watched.

The one that already feels familiar.

So when something breaks…

They don’t search for a company.

They call the one they already trust.

And that shift—from paid exposure to visible expertise—is quietly changing how local service businesses grow.

The companies that understand it are building something traditional advertising never could:

Authority in their market.

5 VIDEO Tips for Trade Companies to Build Business

Most trade companies only post finished jobs.
The companies getting attention show more.

1️⃣ Document the job — not just the finish
Film the problem, the repair, and the explanation.
That’s where credibility is built.

2️⃣ Answer the questions customers always ask
“How long should an HVAC system last?”
“Why is my water pressure low?”
Every question is content.

3️⃣ Introduce the technician
People trust people.
“Meet Mike — our lead installer with 18 years experience.”

4️⃣ Show what homeowners never see
Inside panels.
Inside ductwork.
Under the roof.
Inside the drain.

This kind of content is fascinating to homeowners.

5️⃣ Explain the cost of ignoring a problem
“This $40 part can prevent a $4,000 repair.”
Small problems becoming big ones gets attention.

Good trade content does three things:

• Shows competence
• Builds trust
• Reduces uncertainty

When people repeatedly see your work, the call becomes easy.
