Don’t forget to trust your own feet!
I attended Snow College and USU, studying Fine Arts. I particularly was interested in sculpture of artbooks, block print making, and book binding. I was on my way to be a full-time traditional gallery artist. Subsidizing with a small teaching career. Last I knew, I still have artwork in the perminate collection at Snow.
In 2012, I followed my feet and landed a graphic design contract for a small T-shirt design for an indi-apparel company. It went semi-global. That first graphic moved somewhere around $350000 retail product at a well known outdoor retailer.
And it occasionally returns to print, even still.
This shifted a career from fine art into graphic design. Occasionally i pay a nod to my training, and take on an illustration project
13 years later, I’m now Brand Systems Strategist. I design brand identities, logos, and prepare small businesses to go to market.
I never knew where I could go when I was starting this jouney. We never do.
So I tell you thus now, with an eagerness which you deserve…
Don’t be afraid to be you. Follow your feet, hold your head high, and go get ‘em.
