"This IS my life."

Matt King didn't grow up in the livestock industry, and nobody was teaching him conformation at five years old. But between good mentors, strong relationships with breeders like the Barhums, and the information available on Hired Hand breeder websites, he got there.

He'll tell you himself - he spends more time on Hired Hand than anything else on his phone besides email. Late nights in bed researching sale cattle while his wife tells him to get a life. His response? "No, this IS my life."

That's the kind of impact a well-built breeder website can have, not just for the breeders who own them, but for the buyers doing homework before a sale. If you're not making it easy for people like Matt to find your program, you're leaving money on the table.

Charlotte Cote looked out the window at Thanksgiving dinner, stared at the empty fields her grandparents once farmed, and turned to her dad and said — wouldn't it be amazing to put cows back out there? A week later that's what they were doing.

That was 2015. Today Guy and Charlotte Cote run Cote Cattle Co. in Granby, Massachusetts — a registered Texas Longhorn operation, a beef program, and the driving force behind building the Longhorn community across the entire Northeast.

In this week's episode, Guy and Charlotte sit down with Jaymie to talk about what it took to bring a family farm back to life, how they became the people other New England breeders turn to when they're just getting started, and why they decided to host their very own futurity right there on the farm in the fall.

It's a story about land, legacy, and what happens when two people just decide to figure it out. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts or find the link in bio.

When Tanner Evans of Frontier Longhorns is out checking cattle, he's also doing something else — researching other breeders' animals on Hired Hand.

"I constantly have my phone looking at other animals, taking me to their page, taking me to their pedigree, their health history, their progeny. It's so nice having it at the click of your phone out in the pasture."

Most people think of a Hired Hand website as a selling tool. Tanner reminded us it's just as valuable as a buying and research tool — for every serious breeder in the industry.

If buyers are doing research on your herd right now, is your site current? Pedigrees, photos, progeny, health records — all of it matters. Link in bio.

Leslie Merritt of Norse Ridge Ranch was new to Texas Longhorns and had no network to start from.

So she Googled it.

"I just Googled 'Registered Texas Longhorns' and all these local ranches came up. I'm going to do a shout out for y'all's search engine feature — if it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have found anything."

That search turned up a breeder she and Marshall actually knew from college — someone they would never have connected to Longhorns otherwise. That's how Norse Ridge Ranch made their first purchase. Today, they have a Hired Hand powered website and growing herd of Registered Texas Longhorns of their own.

This is what a Hired Hand website does beyond what social media can't: it shows up when buyers go looking in a search engine. With the right keywords and a properly built site, you're findable to people who didn't even know they were looking for you.

Your herd deserves to be found. Link in bio.
