SURFACE 51 is hiring an experienced designer to join our team.

We’re looking for an experienced, well-rounded designer with a minimum of 3 years working in a professional environment. Yep, professional experience is key—from day one, you’ll hit the ground running. As with many teams our size, we’ll expect you to easily jump from print to web to video projects. Oh and some mad skills in video (Adobe Premiere and After Effects) would be awesome!

We want you to be great at:

•Print, including brand development
•Web design, with an emphasis on UI/UX
•Video development (experience in Premiere and After Effects is preferred)
•Time management
•Meeting deadlines
•Exceeding clients’, our team’s, and your own expectations
•Playing well with others
•Enjoying great* music
*We know, it’s subjective. Add your faves to our current mix!

this past saturday evening, S51’s founder—al fleener —spent time with members of our local congolese community talking entrepreneurship, positivity, opportunity and what it takes to build something of your own. he was joined by dan moisson , founder of simplified computers, and former bloomington mayor mboka mwilambwe . lots of storytelling and so much energy, heart and passion from everyone together in one room!

moments like this are a good reminder—our differences aren’t the problem, they’re the strength. champaign-urbana is better because of its diversity, and the work gets better when we listen, learn and build together. unity beats division. always!
