After working with a military based nonprofit and being a graphic designer for 4 years, I realized it was really hard to find military themed images for different Social Media posts. I spent so much time searching through database after database for images and coming up short. I would resort to finding something close to
what I was looking for and making it work. While working with the nonprofit, I started to build my own stock photography to use for different holidays, posts, and marketing purposes. For the past several months I started to realize that the two things that make me ME was gone; my creative thought process and my drive for creating photography. I felt like I was going nuts and needed to find both, quickly. It wasn’t until recently when a fellow Milspouse challenged me to photograph a cup of coffee to help with my creative thought process by picking up my camera again. After struggling for about 30 minutes, I found my grove. It wasn’t perfect, but what I created was perfect for the challenge. I showed her the end product and she LOVED it – AS DID I! Then a week later, I had another conversation with another Milspouse about stock photography. I asked her if she use stock photography or if she thought there would be a need or a market for it - if I decided to pursue it. She let me in on the biggest challenge in creating content for social media, influencers, websites and bloggers – something I already knew, but wasn’t thinking it could be a problem for others... “No appropriately themed military stylized photography.” AND no one was doing it!! So I did what any military spouse in my situation would do… I took a leap of faith by putting my work out there for all to see by offering Memorial Day Flat Lays for FREE. The response was AH-MAZING!!. So here I am stepping outside of the box I have been trapped in for so long, with shaking hands and butterflies in my stomach, offering my creative style to the world. I have lots of ideas running through my head and I know it will take some time to create each and every vision.
