We’re hard at work creating some awesome projects in the workshop so we wanted to throw it back to a cool installation we did a few years ago. We built this Voodoo doll for the annual ADDY Awards where the American Advertising Federation honors contest winners for their “creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.” We were thrilled to build such a unique project for their awards ceremony.

Recognize this statue made out of styrofoam and plastic bushes? It’s the legendary NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson! Our team put it together for a segment in a commercial in 2014. Watch the full commercial at http://bit.ly/37n3rHL

This project presented us with a lot of challenges. The canvas bottom was blocking the pool drains, the plastic propeller and rudder were too buoyant, and we had to attach dock floats to keep the entire installation from tipping over. It took 6 divers, a few pallets of bricks, and a lot of rebar to get the propeller and rudder to stay underwater in the 17ft pool. Overall, we were ecstatic by how it turned out, even if it made us scratch our heads at every turn. Watch the full commercial at https://vimeo.com/203663036

How we did it:
* Painted canvas to mimic the ocean floor
* Installed plastic plants on the canvas
* Created life-sized ship parts out of plastic
* Recreated the First Tuesday costume using aluminum sheets
* Constructed a 2x6 wooden frame to hold the prop and rudder in place
* Secured the wooden frame to dock floats to keep it level underwater

We’re all for oversized and over the top projects, but sometimes we hone our skills to create everyday items. Our team designed and built this hideaway stovetop kitchen island for a local cooking show a few years back. Don’t let us fool you; we always focus on the details.

Not to pat ourselves on the back, but not many people can dismantle a perfectly good piano and place it around a tree trunk for a music video. Although it’s filled with moss and split down the middle, it still carried a beautiful tune.

We have some kicka** projects underway, but we wanted to throw it back to that time we were creating a life size mouse trap and Jeff had one too many in the workshop. Follow us on Instagram to see all of our projects.
