In conversations with clients and business owners, I always explain how organic traffic driven by SEO increases their businesses' sell value in the long term. The business “earned” that top ranking position in Google, and now, earned citations in AI platforms as well, so the volume of business comes kind of “automatically.”

I know I read this somewhere, I don’t remember exactly when, but I wanted to confirm if this is actually accurate. So I asked an expert. He really clarified how business valuation works and why SEO is so important.

This is just one nugget from my conversation with Flores, Trusted M&A Advisor, about what really drives business value.

Businesses that rely heavily on the owner to generate leads, close deals, and manage operations, logistics, and everything else are usually valued in the lower range of market value.

As Haydn put it, when a company has systems in place, like SEO and consistent digital lead generation, that work without the owner being involved day to day, the business becomes truly transferable and far more valuable to buyers.

Search is no longer happening in just one place, and I’m seeing more and more brands realize that showing up everywhere is what really drives visibility.

People now discover businesses through search engines, social media, AI tools, and marketplaces. If your strategy is still focused only on traditional SEO, you might be missing where your audience is actually searching.

What this means in practice:

✅ Buyers don’t start with Google anymore. Many people now search directly on social platforms, marketplaces, AI tools, or even voice assistants (Hi Siri!).

✅ Discovery happens across multiple touchpoints. Someone might first hear about a brand on social media, research it on Google, and compare options on a marketplace.

✅ Visibility depends on consistency, authority, and relevance. Brands that show up consistently with credible and helpful content build more trust across platforms.

✅ Each platform works differently. What performs on Google won’t necessarily perform on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, or AI search tools. Content needs to be adapted for each platform.

Search keeps evolving, and for me this is a good reminder that visibility today means being present wherever people are looking for answers.

AI isn’t just answering questions about your business, it’s shaping how your brand is perceived. 🤖✨

AI doesn’t just share information, it interprets the narrative based on how people interact with it. That has big implications for how your brand is perceived online.

This is something that Thalberg, a strategic Communications Advisor to Leaders and Organizations and President of Stryker Munley Group, and I both agree on.

That means your brand story is no longer only told by your website, ads, or social media, it’s also being told by AI. If you’re not intentional about the data, messaging, and signals you put out there, AI will fill in the gaps for you.

This is where I see businesses miss the mark. AI isn’t magic. It reflects the systems, content, and clarity, or lack of clarity, you’ve built. The brands that win are those designing their strategy with AI in mind, not just adding AI tools on top of broken processes.

I asked that question to Lucas, a recruitment expert and owner of Steele Talent Solutions.

Here’s something we both agreed on:

AI is an amazing resource for improving efficiency, speeding up sourcing and screening, and helping recruiters stay on top of growing demands. And AI will never replace the human side of recruiting.

It can handle the heavy lifting, processing large amounts of data, reviewing applications, automating repetitive tasks, operating at scale. When used intentionally, AI actually creates space for recruiters to dedicate the time saved from screening applications to authentic communication with candidates.
