Well, it's been twenty years this month for Xanabella. After getting laid off on my Birthday in February 1998 at my first Advertising Agency I started "Hired Hand". This eventually evolved into Xanabella after both my daughters, Bella and Xandra were born. I never considered myself an "entrepreneur", but as a polymath with a healthy smattering of ADD, I found that conventional corporate structures with their bureaucratic hoops and incessantly unnecessary meetings about reports and reports about meetings were for me, the seventh circle of hell. So now here we are, concentrating on our core-competencies and only working with like-minded organizations that share our approach to creating beautiful and functional design in a healthy atmosphere that adheres to a philosophy of fairness, collaboration and trust.

Pretty much this exact time in 2021 I did the first version of this Comic Book Cover for St. Paul Public Schools, every time their free meal program during Covid hit a million meal milestone we made another Cover. It started at 14M and went to over 20M. When I started, my Illustration skills were a little rusty and I was using traditional media (Colored Pencils) after the first few covers I invested in a Digital Tablet and everything got easier (and I got un-rustified). Recently SPPS decided to make decorative posters from all the covers, the only problem was that in three years, the first ones looked radically different from the most recent ones, so I had to go back and "revisit" the first few that I did…

Sometimes a logo is refreshed rather than a redesigned. There's a variety of reasons to do this, including when the original only exists in a pixelated format, when it's dated, or when it's details are not conducive to varied uses like embroidery or screenprinting.
