What an adventure at the NHRA races in Bristol, with Glenn Halverson as guests of my friend , professional drag racer, team owner, and one of the finest gentlemen you'll ever meet.
Most fans never get to experience race day from behind the ropes, but Chris welcomed us into every aspect of the weekend, giving us full access to everything, including the pits, garage, starting line, and treating us like VIPs from the moment we arrived. I even drove the bike that pushed Chris and his race bike from the pits to the starting line, then to the scales after the race.
Along the way, we enjoyed a great dinner at Council Oak Steakhouse and had the pleasure of getting to know Heather as well.
What impressed me most, however, wasn't the access. It was watching Chris interact with his fans. And trust me, there are a LOT of them. No matter how busy he was, he was patient, gracious, and generous with his time. He made everyone feel appreciated.
One of the themes of The Gentleman's Edge is that being a gentleman isn't about what you wear, what you own, or how successful you become. It's about how you treat people. Chris is a perfect example of that. He's a fierce competitor on the track, but an even better gentleman off of it.
Thank you, Chris and Heather, for an unforgettable weekend. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
