From the lost files… 📸

Before we had the opportunity to work from a commercial kitchen and long before we had a food trailer we started inside our home. Then we stepped outside and served our community from underneath our blue hut.

I’m from Jean-Rabel, Haiti. My wife is from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and both of our children were born and raised here. Haiti gave me my roots, while Chattanooga gave our family a place to grow and build our dream.

We didn’t have much when we started, but we had love, faith, family, and the determination to keep going. Never be ashamed of your beginning sometimes the smallest blue hut can shelter the biggest dream.

From the house, to the blue hut, to the opportunity of a commercial kitchen, and now to our food trailer. Piti piti, zwazo fè nich li. 🇭🇹❤️🌴

Today’s dedication goes to Gary Long and the Long brothers.

They have been looking out for me since 2004, when I first moved to Tennessee. From clothes and shoes to anything else they could give, they took care of me and brought me under their wings.

When I was getting married and needed a best man, Gary stopped whatever he was doing to stand beside me. He’s still my haircut partner and someone I can call whenever I need him. While I sat in his chair venting and talking about my vision, he listened. From those conversations, he created The Island Vibe logo and helped bring my menu to life.

He gave me that logo and still hasn’t asked me to repay him. He just tells me, “Don’t worry about it keep doing your thing.”

To this day, he still cuts my children’s hair, and he’s still the person I trust with mine.

Gary, thank you for believing in my vision before everyone could see it. You’ve been more than a barber and more than a friend you’ve been a brother, a role model, and someone I’m proud to call my American idol.

Today’s dedication is for you and your brothers. I will never forget what the Long family has done for me. ❤️🙏🏾

Today was extra special because it was Mrs. Vibe’s first time on Channel 12! Together, we had the opportunity to share our journey, our culture, and the exciting news about The Island Vibe Food Trailer Grand Opening on September 25!

A heartfelt thank you to Mark, Angela, and the Kitchen Incubator of Chattanooga for believing in us and giving us this amazing opportunity.

We’re excited to bring the community together and give Chattanooga an authentic Taste of Haiti one plate at a time. We can’t wait to celebrate with you on September 25! 🙏🏾❤️
