Very strong and damaging winds are forecasted for most of Kansas tomorrow afternoon. A High Wind Warning has been issued for most of our area with a watch in place for parts of south and southeast Kansas. Gusts of 60 to 70 mph will be possible in the warning.

🔥 Fire weather update 🔥 A strong storm system brings gusty southwest winds today (12/10) for southern Kansas. A cold front will sweep across the region mid-afternoon shifting winds northwesterly. Shifting, strong winds combined with very dry conditions will develop critical fire weather. Should a fire start, suppression will be extremely challenging. Fuels are extremely dry and extreme fire behavior is likely, especially south of US-50. Channel your inner Smokey Bear today and do your part to prevent a wildfire start!
