I BUILT A WEBSITE!

Two weeks ago I had the idea to write blog posts to answer even more questions just in time to help people with their New Year goals.

I’ve never designed a website or written a blog post, writing is not my best skill, and then Omicron got me this past week. I genuinely was not sure if I would be finished in time. However, despite ALL of that, I am happy to announce the Dom’s Tech Chat website is ready for launch after just TWO WEEKS with FOUR blog posts ready. (Yes I’m exhausted lol).

This is so out of my comfort zone and I am so happy with how it came out. To celebrate the launch I am giving out the resume template that landed me FAANG interviews and my resume guide for free to anyone who signs up for my email list! I have so much content planned for this year and you will be the first to know!

This is your reminder that you can take a break. Grind culture is great for some things. It’s wonderful to take sometime to reach your goals. However, burnout is real and I’ll be honest with y’all I burned all the way out 😅.

I spent most of this year trying to learn new skills, going back to school, growing this page, and my YouTube channel. I was determined to get out of help desk and put a ridiculous amount of pressure on myself to make it happen.

When I finally got this new job I had to force myself to take a break. Transitioning from WFH to going back to commuting takes time. Transitioning to a more physical role requires rest! I love my new position and am so excited about this opportunity. However, some things had to take the back burner while I adjusted. I needed to be kind to myself and realize that it’s okay to sleep instead of edit that video. It’s okay to go see my friends instead of studying. It’s okay to take a break!!!

So this is a reminder to listen to your body, check in on your mental health, and take a break when you need it ☺️. I’m excited to get back to some content creation though I’m rested up and ready to go lol.

Since I have made this account I have been obsessed with these three accounts 😍. In fact, Baddies in Tech was one of the pages that inspired me to start this page.

My favorite parts about each page:

✨ - A wonderful tech community that is always resharing content to find other great accounts. Also shares helpful career tips and workshops

✨ .dev - Can you say good vibes?? Kedasha always has a smile on her face and is just so relatable. I've loved the few conversations we've been able to have. If you haven't checked out her IG Live series where she interviews other women in tech you definitely should definitely look at the IGTV tab on her page and catch up.

✨ - Also so sweet!! Ademusoyo gives tips on everything from coding to productivity to business branding. Honestly no matter what field you're in you will find a helpful tip for it here. You should also listen to the podcast she cohosts I binged it this week lol

I love these pages 💕 and always look forward to their content. Of course there are a bunch more I couldn't fit. But let me know guys. Who are some of your favorite people to follow here on IG? 👀👀

In the tech 👩🏾‍💻 industry you must constantly grow and develop new skills. This is stressful sometimes because it can lead to feeling that you never know enough. Try to not get wrapped up in what you 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗 know and praise 🥳 what you 𝗗𝗢 know. If no one has told you this lately let me be the one:

𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁! Your career is moving at the exact speed that it should. Do not kill yourself trying to chase after what 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 people are doing because they aren't you. Don't compare yourself to anyone who isn't you.

(This was as much for myself as it was for anyone else 😅)
