This past weekend, I had the pleasure of competing in the Dynamic Performance RC Season Opener in Lyndonville, Vermont. The event drew an impressive 120 entries and featured fierce competition across all classes. I entered three: 40+ E-Buggy, E-Buggy, and Nitro Buggy.
In 40+ E-Buggy, I earned a 3rd place finish in the A Main. In E-Buggy, I ran in the B Main and brought home 3rd place there as well. The highlight was the 30-minute Nitro Buggy A Main, where I finished 5th after a long, grueling race.
The track featured a completely new surface, and after heavy rain, it was uncertain whether the event would proceed. Thanks to an incredible effort by the DPRC crew and volunteers, the track was prepped and ready in time for racing.
With the surface being soft, wet, and unpredictable, tire selection became critical. I started the weekend testing both Pro-Motion SS Blackbirds and T1 Vipers. I ran Vipers in Q1, which felt well hooked-up. During the break, I tested S Phantoms, which felt even better and gave me improved lap times in Q2, though consistency became more difficult as the track started to develop more character. For the mains, I opted for S Raptors, expecting them to perform well in the cool conditions and rougher track. However, as the sun went down, the surface became slick and damp—SS compounds likely would have been a better choice for the changing conditions.
A huge thank you to Bob, Razz, and the entire DPRC team for hosting such a great event. The effort they put into salvaging the race after the rain was truly impressive. I had an amazing time and am already looking forward to the next one!
