What everyone thinks you have to do to create clear messaging:

β†’ Keep it simple
β†’ Keep it concise
β†’ Don't use jargon

What it actually takes:

β†’ Get to the essence of what you're selling
β†’ Identify the alternatives for what you sell
β†’ Know how you're different without guessing
β†’ Articulate the ONE THING your offering does
β†’ Identify the potential objections you could face
β†’ Explain how your offering works in 3-5 simple steps
β†’ Pinpoint who your target audience is
β†’ Identify their primary goals and objectives
β†’ Define what success is for them...and failure
β†’ Understand their role and things to accomplish
β†’ Be able to take on your audience's perspective
β†’ Know the problem you address
β†’ Understand how the problem manifests
β†’ Identify the effects of having that problem
β†’ Identify the business impact of those effects
β†’ Know what happens if the problem goes unresolved
β†’ Know what happens if the problem is fully addressed
β†’ Detail out all the positive changes your solution brings
β†’ Highlight the contrast between your offer vs. alternatives
β†’ Get to the heart of your audience's feelings
β†’ Understand their emotional state when facing the problem
β†’ Know how they talk about all those feelings and emotions
β†’ Capture the emotional journey from problem to solution
β†’ Identify the words your audience uses to describe their situation
β†’ Master the nuances in their language
β†’ Mirror their vocabulary in your messaging
β†’ Distill all this knowledge into a compelling narrative
β†’ Craft a message that resonates on logical and emotional levels
β†’ Tie all the above together in a crisp, clear, and clever 3 to 5 words

And of course...

β†’ Test what you come up with so you know it lands the way you intend

πŸ’— On St. Valentine's Day, oh founders dear,
A sonnet penned, to make your visions clear. πŸ’—

Ah, in the craft of message, skill's but part,
Deep lies the art, the heart, the soul to fill,
For founders, challenge vast, a daunting art,
Beyond mere clarity, a steeper hill.

Not just in words that sound both clear and true,
In understanding's thread, connections bred,
But deeper bonds with buyers we pursue,
Our words take flight, on newfound pathways led.

The goal's not merely to speak, but connect,
With clarity that's rich and more profound,
To resonate, their essence to reflect,
Where true engagement and belief are found.

So founders, in your quest, be bold, be bright,
In clarity, seek depth, bring forth the light.

Happy Valentine's Day!
