This maternity shoot reminded me why I do what I do. Being chosen to capture this couple’s first pregnancy journey — from the quiet anticipation to the joy of their gender reveal — was more than a job. It was a blessing.

In the first photo, she stood embraced by Mother Nature — grounded, glowing, and angelic. That moment wasn’t just styled. It was intentional. A visual reflection of her strength as a Black woman, a soon-to-be mother, and a soul entering a new chapter with grace.

I don’t just take photos. I create safe spaces. I tell stories. I preserve joy, emotion, and legacy. And I was honored to hold space for this sacred milestone.

Chicago showed OUT for the Season 7 premiere of The Chi — and I had the honor of capturing every unforgettable moment 📸✨

Being one of the photographers for this powerful, community-rooted event was truly surreal. Watching The Chi, a show that authentically represents our city and stories, has always meant so much to me. But seeing my favorite actors live, right in front of my lens? That’s a moment I’ll never forget 🙌🏾

Thank you to Ms. Johnson ( ) and Englewood Music Fest ( ) for curating a space that celebrated not only the show, but the incredible talent rising right from our neighborhoods. This night was a true love letter to Chicago 🖤

“This ain’t Texas, ain’t no hold ’em…” 🎵✨

At The Kidd Creations, we pulled direct inspiration from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter — her fearless blend of power, sensuality, and Southern grit — to create a shoot that felt just as bold, unshakable, and magnetic.

When model Lux stepped into the studio wearing an Akira ( ) statement hat, it wasn’t just about fashion — it was about embodying the spirit of a modern businesswoman with a seductive twist. The goal was to showcase confidence and allure without letting the sensuality overpower the strength — a delicate balance that demanded a full creative vision.

As both photographer and creative director, I knew lighting was key: I crafted soft, strategic highlights that brought out Lux’s glowing skin while making the deep reds richer and more commanding. But the real transformation happened during post-production, where I focused on enhancing the shades of red, perfecting her skin tones, and refining the overall mood to match that Cowboy Carter energy — unapologetic, striking, yet deeply sophisticated.

It’s one thing to be a photographer — but it’s another to wear the creative director hat and build a complete narrative through every element of the shot: styling, posing, color, and emotion. This project wasn’t just a shoot; it was a tribute to the new era Beyoncé is leading — bold, fearless, and reimagined.

From the Heart of a Black Woman: A Valentine’s Reflection

Two years ago, I created this shoot without realizing its significance. Armed with my camera, lighting, and a vision, I prayed for guidance—and the results spoke for themselves.

I chose to step beyond traditional Valentine’s themes, using the model’s hair as a framing element to create depth and contrast. More than anything, I wanted to highlight the richness of her skin—celebrating Black beauty in an industry that often demands conformity. The light heart shapes on her face symbolized self-love, while her gaze carried the emotion I sought—not a smile, but a story told through her eyes.

This project helped me find my creative voice and reaffirm my place in this industry. Every time doubt creeps in, I look at work like this and know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

✨ A Birthday Fit for a Rich Auntie ✨

What better way to celebrate another year of life than with a bold, luxurious photoshoot that captures your alter ego? For this session, we brought The Rich Auntie energy to life—class, confidence, and a little bit of mystery.

This shoot was a spontaneous creative experience, which meant no rigid plan—just vibes, vision, and a two-light setup that delivered stunning contrast. I used a strobe with a beauty dish on one side while keeping the other light bare, allowing for a perfect balance of softness and drama. This technique highlighted depth and dimension, making each shot feel cinematic while keeping the focus on my muse’s radiant presence.

Studio setups are great, but being able to bring the studio to my client? That’s a whole new level of creativity and flexibility. The results? Pure magic.

✨ Capturing Moments That Matter ✨

As a visual storyteller, my goal is always to go beyond just documenting an event; I strive to capture the essence, emotion, and connection within each frame. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing an 80th birthday celebration where love, legacy, and family took center stage. It was my responsibility to tell this beautiful story from beginning to end.

This project, however, brought its own challenges. Lighting has always been an area I’m working to master, and this event reminded me of its power. With limited lighting options and the venue illuminated by yellow tones, I had to lean into my settings, utilizing every bit of skill and focus to bring out the depth, richness, and beauty of Black skin. My goal was to keep each moment authentic—dewy, melanined, and full of life.

With my Sony A7IV and Godox V1 Flash, I pushed myself creatively, using this challenge to explore new ways of highlighting the incredible tones and textures of my subjects. Seeing the final results, I’m filled with pride. The images are a testament to the resilience of our craft and the powerful stories we hold.

Here’s to more moments that celebrate love, family, and the beauty of our people.

I'm thrilled to announce a new passion of mine: drone photography and videography! Having had prior experience with drone flying, I'm now the proud owner of a DJI Air 3 Drone. The joy and excitement this brings are unparalleled.

This video captures my very first flight with my new drone. My new goal is to fly it once a day to sharpen my skills and continuously improve. Throughout this journey, I've learned the importance of patience, precise control, and understanding the nuances of drone technology.

Challenges like mastering directional control and navigating risky flying conditions are part of the process, but I'm committed to overcoming them through consistent practice and research. My aim is to achieve greater control features and to confidently handle any situation that comes my way.
