Here are 3 tried-and-tested content series we use for our design-build clients (and why they work).

Transformations — the before and after. A cluttered, dated kitchen. Then the same space after a full redesign. No explanation needed. The viewer feels the difference before you say anything.

Lists — useful, scannable, easy to save. Things like "4 questions to ask your designer before you start" or "3 materials we reach for on every kitchen project." People save lists because they plan to come back to them.

Material vs. The Space — a close-up of a stone slab, a tile, a wood finish. Then a wide shot of that same material in the finished room. It shows how you think. Clients hire designers who can see the whole picture from a single sample.

Pick one. Run it consistently for a month. See what your audience does with it.

Save this if you're planning your content.

You have been consistent. Showing up. Posting good work.

And yet some designers in your market are getting inquiries from people who never followed them. Never saw their grid. Never found them on Instagram at all.

They found them on ChatGPT.

When clients want to find a designer, more and more of them are skipping Instagram and asking AI directly.

AI is now the first stop for clients researching designers in your city. It hands them a short list. Those designers get the call. Everyone else gets skipped before the client ever reaches Instagram.

Instagram is still one of the ways clients find designers. But it is no longer the first place they look. And if AI is not surfacing your name, most of your future clients will never find you.

GBP. Houzz. Yelp. Directories. Press. That is what AI reads when building that list. Most designers have built almost nothing on these.

We built an audit that runs those exact searches in your market and shows you exactly where you rank against your competitors.

The most effective newsletters we've seen don't look like newsletters at all.

No banners. No color blocks. No button grids. Just a subject line that sounds like something a friend would send, and copy that makes the reader feel like it was written specifically for them.

Alex Hormozi and Leila Hormozi send plain text emails to hundreds of thousands of people. Their newsletters read like a personal memo and that's the whole strategy.

We get why this feels counterintuitive for design studios. Visual communication is your world. But in the inbox, trust is built through voice, relevance, and timing. Not design.

We write and manage email for every client we work with. Not templates. Not roundups. One message. One moment. One clear next step.

Save this if your newsletters aren't getting the response they should.

Most designers we talk to assume they are probably on the AI-cited side.
Most are not.

When a potential client gets your name from a referral, their next move is to research you. They open ChatGPT or Google and ask who the best designer in your city is. AI hands them a list. You are either on it or you are not.
That decision is made before they ever reach your Instagram.

The gap is specific. It is fixable. But you have to know where you stand first.

So we built an audit that runs those exact searches and shows you where your competitors rank vs. you.

DM us "audit" to find out.

Open ChatGPT. Type "best interior designer in [your city]." Read what comes back.
If you're not on it, your competitors are. The gap is fixable.

It is not a portfolio problem. AI does not read portfolios. It reads Houzz, Google Business Profile, Yelp, and press. Most designers have spent years building on the one channel AI does not cite for recommendations.

Our client Artistic Kitchen is now named by 5 of 6 AI platforms when clients search their market for a designer. We built their presence across the channels AI actually cites. The recommendations followed.

We built a complimentary audit tool that runs those exact searches across six AI platforms and sends you the verbatim answers. Not a score. Not an estimate. The actual text your future client reads when they ask who the best designer in your city is.

You will see which firms are being recommended. Which platforms they built on. Where the gap is. So you can close it.

That is information most designers in your market do not have. Now you will.

DM us 'AUDIT' to get yours. No call. No pitch. Just the report.

A review is not a trophy. It's a tool.

Most design studios screenshot it, post it once, and move on. But a well-worded review from a real client is working, or it could be, on your Google Business Profile, in local search results, as an EEAT signal, and inside AI search tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity.

That one review has five jobs to do across your digital presence. Most studios only give it one.

AI search results are changing how your clients find designers. And most studios aren't showing up in them yet.

Here's why.

1. Your website has no clear niche signal.
If Google can't tell whether you're a kitchen designer, a home stager, or a general contractor, AI won't know who to recommend you to. Your niche needs to be obvious from the first page.

2. Your content doesn't answer real questions.
AI pulls from content that directly answers what people search for. If your website doesn't have pages built around questions your clients actually ask, you're invisible in AI results.

3. Your Google Business Profile is incomplete.
AI uses your GBP to verify who you are and where you operate. An incomplete profile tells AI you're not worth featuring.

4. You have no FAQ section on your website.
FAQ pages are one of the highest-performing content types for AI search. They're structured exactly the way AI reads. Most design studio websites skip them entirely.

5. Your content isn't structured for AI to read.
Clear headings. Short paragraphs. Direct answers near the top of each page. Without this, AI skips your content even if it's good.

This is the exact checklist we run when auditing a client's online presence. Every point on this list is a reason your business isn't showing up where your next client is already searching.

Follow for more on how to build a presence that shows up everywhere your clients are looking.

Before we write a single word for a new client, we spend serious time on the work that happens before content.

We define exactly who we're writing to. We build the message architecture. We benchmark their voice. We map their content pillars. We identify the moments their audience is most ready to engage. And we set a standard every piece of content has to pass before it goes live.

Most of that work is invisible. But it's what determines whether content grows a business or just fills a feed.

Every project you finish is sitting on more marketing potential than you're using.

One project photo. Eight places it works.

Here at Illume Digital Studio , we turn it into a Reel, a carousel, and a Story series on Instagram.
A keyword-optimized pin on Pinterest.
A location-specific case study built to rank on Google.
An SEO-optimized post on your Google Business listing.
The hero visual in your next email campaign.
The lead story in that month's newsletter.
The proof point on the right service page of your website.
And paid ad creative for cold audiences.

None of it requires a new shoot. Just a system that knows what to do with what you already have.

Save this if your finished projects are only showing up in one place.

You built a following. You've got reach. People recognize the brand.
And then the algorithm changes. Or the account gets flagged. Or a platform just decides your content doesn't perform anymore.

Everything you built on a rented platform can be adjusted, throttled, or removed. Not by you. By them.

Your email list is different. You own it. No algorithm decides who sees it. No platform can take it. If Instagram disappeared tomorrow, the list survives.

For design-build studios, this matters more than most people think. Your sales cycle is long. Your clients need multiple touches before they're ready. Email is where that relationship lives between the moments they're scrolling.

You don't need thousands of subscribers. You need the right ones, and a reason for them to stay.
