Last night, 5️⃣ extraordinary teens took the stage at Navy Pier before hundreds of people to share their stories, challenges and dreams. For those who may not know, Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Club member can achieve at Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. It celebrates young people who lead with heart, uplift their communities and stay fiercely committed to their education.
Watching them speak reminded me of how powerful these moments can be. 🥹 Fifteen years ago, I stood on that same stage as a Club teen, not yet realizing how much that experience would shape the path ahead of me. It’s always meaningful to come back and support an organization that believed in me and continues to be a crucial space for young people in underserved communities.
Yesterday was a powerful example of what happens when a community shows up for its youth. Every teen on that stage shared their story with courage and purpose, and it was inspiring to witness their passion for the future they are building. 👏
A special shoutout to Oliva from the True Value Club, a proud Latina from La Villita, who was named the 2026 Youth of the Year. 🎉 Her story is one I strongly connected with and I have no doubt she will continue to inspire others along the way. ✨️
Moments like this remind me why investing in our youth matters so much. When young people are given the right support, mentorship and opportunities, they don’t just succeed but they uplift entire communities along the way. I’m grateful to continue being part of this mission and to witness the next generation of leaders stepping into their power. The future is bright. 💙
