We've unpacked another round of books in anticipation for Saturday's Book Butcher! What is the Book Butcher? Well.....
Wouldn’t it be handy if there were a way to sample publications from the most revered publishers, big and small, across the nation? A pop-up shop with a mouth-watering selection of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, zines, comics, and alternative publications? With display cases full of the freshest books? Like a butcher shop where issues of the Paris Review replace Pastrami? With not summer sausage, but fresh copies of Salamander Magazine? No sirloin in sight, but an endless selection from Soberscove Press, Southwest Review, and City Lights Books? A book butcher that swaps out duck confit for hand-sewn, letterpress printed chapbooks from Ugly Duckling Presse.
The Book Butcher reinvigorates the great Printers Ball tradition of putting the freshest and juiciest new books from the most revered small presses directly into the hands of eager readers, artists, and print media enthusiasts. Stop by the Book Butcher. Once your number is called, select up to five “cuts” for $5. Our Head Butcher, Brad Rohloff, will wrap up up the tasty morsels, and may even throw in a free sample.
Steamroller Spectacular takes place in Simple Honest Work. New books are introduced hourly with last call at 6pm. Additional side dishes may be purchased for $3 each.
