In the land where the sun's a relentless blaze,
A tale unfolds in California’s maze.
Two months adrift in the wild's embrace,
Christopher Todd Drummond vanished without trace.

Highways hum with engines' roar,
Concrete rivers in an endless sprawl.
Amongst the chaos, a figure will race,
A desperate game in an unkind place.

Gone for weeks from eyes that seek,
Cold nights fell and days grew bleak.
But hope does not desert the keen;
He's a ghost of twilight, fleet and lean.

Cars scream past, a furious tide,
Their lights like beacons cutting wide.
With every leap, with every dart,
He places hope in his beating heart.

Frogger on the freeway, slipping through gaps,
Feet tap-tapping, a rhythmic lapse.
A side-step here, a sprint then pause,
Dodging danger with natural laws.

Headlights flare with piercing beams,
Life’s last thread in perilous seams.
Yet on he bounds, from lane to lane,
Vying to return from the land of pain.

The freeway breathes a mechanical sigh,
Beneath the stars in a cobalt sky.
In this dance of death, resilience sings,
As he reaches out for tomorrow’s wings.

Each step a fight, each breath a win,
As starts to see his life again begin.

Dear God,

Thank you for the gift of this new day. As I rise and shine—well, more like rise and shuffle—please grant me the energy of a toddler and the wisdom of a sage.

Help me find my keys, my phone, and my sanity as I tackle today’s adventures. May my coffee be strong, my to-do list be short, and my WiFi signal never falter.

Guide me to be as patient as a saint—even when traffic is slow and the line at the coffee shop is long. And if I encounter any forks in the road, please let them lead to pancakes.

Give me the courage to face any challenges, the humor to laugh through minor mishaps, and the grace to handle all things with kindness.

I count the hours, minutes that we’re apart,
Yet each thought of you ignites my heart.

A photograph, a window to the day,
When fate unites the paths upon our way.
Until then, in stillness, I shall find,
Your picture's charm, forever in my mind.

So, Bella dear, my patience shall remain,
Awaiting you, to cast away the pain.

Christopher Todd Drummond went on vacation,
With plans for fun and relaxation,
But alas, things did not go as planned,
And his trip turned out to be quite bland.

The hotel room had a leaky faucet,
And the food he ate was quite rancid,
The weather was stormy every day,
And his umbrella blew away.

He tried to visit the local sights,
But got lost and ended up in a fright,
He missed his flight back home,
And had to spend another day alone.

But through it all, Christopher Todd Drummond,
Kept his sense of humor and kept on laughing,
For he knew that sometimes things go awry,
And all he could do was give a big sigh.

So here's to Christopher Todd Drummond,
And his horrible vacation,
May his next trip be much more fun,
And without any more frustration.
