A rescue dog, some serious Chicago restaurant pedigree and one very special new café. 🐾
Dewey’s Café is officially open in Roscoe Village, and Lisa Shames has the exclusive first look for Eater Chicago.
Riley Brown and Hannah Grossman met while opening Monteverde and have been building a life together in Chicago hospitality ever since. Riley later rose to chef de cuisine at two Michelin-starred Oriole, while Hannah is a certified sommelier with more than a decade of restaurant and w**e experience.
Named for their beloved rescue chihuahua, Dewey’s is rooted in what he taught them about love, care and patience. That spirit runs through a seasonal, plant-focused menu built around regional growers, minimal waste and relationships with local makers including Metric Coffee, Volition Tea, Beacon Doughnuts, Middle Brow and Hopewell.
That same warmth carries through every visual detail. A special thank you to Siren Betty Design, who brought it into the interiors, and Dan Polyak, who carried it through the branding.
