It’s the middle of February and we’re craving some green! Here’s Emma & Leo’s woodsy tri-fold invite from last fall.

Emma drew each illustration herself to create a playful letterpressed map which told the story of their relationship. 💚

Yesterday we took a field trip to see our beloved letterpress teacher Cathie Ruggie-Saunders talk about the work in her current exhibition “That Which Remains” at St. Xavier University.

During her talk, Cathie talked about the tactility of letterpress and the impression it leaves behind on paper being akin to archaeology, and the deep connection inherent in letterpress to time and history.

In the exhibition, the cumulative effect of small marks and misprints from students told a visual story of her teaching philosophy and recorded the inner worlds of her students: each printer leaving behind a small impression into the long history of the .

These pieces gave us the opportunity to reflect on the lasting influence and impression that Cathie’s class has on us—Dave was her student 3 years ago, Molly 10 years ago, and Stacey before Dave was born—and yet we still use the skills and thought processes we learned from her every day at Steracle Press.

Congratulations to Cathie on a beautiful exhibition and an incredible, influential career as an artist, teacher, and mentor.

Elizabeth & Matthew’s gorgeous invites! Duplexed jackets with letterpress inside on bold chartreuse and pearlescent paper outside, pockets printed with their monogram, die cut shapes for each letterpress details card and a sharp edgepainted bevel on their main invitation. We loved all of the thoughtful color choices, delicious little details, and patterns and textures on this one!
