Rudd Resources recently joined Healing Illinois on a visit to De Soto, Illinois, to spend time with one of its incredible subgrantees, So ILL Veggies. Simon Cotton and Alexia Diamond learned more about the organization's impact and the meaningful ways it engages students through agriculture and cultural education.
Through its partnership with De Soto Grade School, So ILL Veggies is creating hands-on learning experiences that connect agriculture, culture and community. Students are exploring Native American agricultural history through the Three Sisters planting system: corn, beans and squash. This traditional growing method reflects sustainability, symbiosis and stewardship of the land.
Something special is growing in De Soto, and we're excited to share more soon.
