Here is a great success story

Kenny had challenges in school. He was aggressive with other children when he didn’t get his way. His teachers didn’t understand what was going on. He was attending an excellent school, but sometimes even the best schools need assistance.

It was very helpful to be in the Tuesday’s Child parent sessions and good to know other parents had the same frustrations and difficulties. To know we weren’t alone.

His behavior has improved both at school and at home. As parents, we’ve become more understanding and compassionate. Tuesday’s Child was there for us. They helped us communicate. He’s able to use his words instead of his hands, to express his feelings instead of lashing out and throwing a tantrum.

“My parents brought me to Tuesday’s Child when I was a toddler. My mom likes to say that I was “incredibly strong-willed and intelligent”. Other people in my family say that I was, “Just terrible!”
I refused to walk anywhere and insisted on riding in the stroller even though I was too big for it. I didn’t like to wear a coat and refused to let my mom zip me into it. I drew on the walls with lipstick and permanent marker and then blamed it on my imaginary friend. I cut up my mom’s new curtains because I said I needed them to make my baby doll a blanket.

When my parents took me to Tuesday’s Child everything changed. They learned how to set consistent limits and also give positive rewards. I still remember the pictures all over the house of me doing things like brushing my teeth or taking a bath. When I did those things without throwing a tantrum, I got a sticker.

I am now 26 and I am almost nothing like that little toddler. I still think that I am strong-willed and independent and I know what I want, but I can also balance that with what I should do and what other people might want me to do.

I got a degree in Spanish and Sociology from UIUC and now am a Spanish teacher for 1st through 8th grade. Everyday I see the benefits of how our school and community both set limits and express love and encouragement for these kids, just like my parents did for me.”

Hello all,

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday!

Please help support the 501c3 charity I work for. I’m looking for $700 more in donations.

We have a lot of lower income families. Your donation will help them be able to access financial assistance and benefit from the services we offer ❤️

It’s not only a great charity but an important one that works with kids from 2-6 years old with autism, PTSD, non verbal communication and ADHD. We also work with the parents to help them understand what their kids are going through.

So please help support with any donation possible.

If you are unable to donate maybe you can share this post and others you know might be able to help out.

Help Tuesday's Child reach our goal on Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday takes place November 28th. All proceeds will benefit Tuesday's Child, a Chicago 501c3 non-profit organization established in 1980. Tuesday’s Child helps families address behavioral issues through individualized training for both...
