A friends experience;
HARRIS SAYS, "THANK A UNION MEMBER."
OK, here are just a few of the things for which I'll "thank a union member:"
While I was working for US Steel during college, and forced to be a union member, I was working with a crew of lazy as****es who leaned on their tools and yelled at me, "Don't work so fast!" My work pace was not even close to what I was used to working elsewhere. Management noticed, and offered me a promotion. The union came in and BLOCKED my promotion in favor of the lazy as****es.
"Thanks, union members."
Union thugs showed up at my dad's business to try to unionize his employees. My dad let them talk to his employees during their breaks. The employees UNANIMOUSLY voted AGAINST unionizing. The union thugs came back a month later. The employees again UNANIMOUSLY voted AGAINST unionizing. The UNION THUGS THREATENED TO BURN DOWN THE BUILDING. We told the union thugs they would meet a sudden, very unpleasant end if they stepped foot on the property again. They never came back.
"Thanks, union members."
My company was forced to discard an inexpensive exhibition booth because it took longer to set up than 30 minutes, which meant that at trade shows, we would be forced to hire very expensive and slow union labor. It was less expensive to get a new booth designed and made, which we could set up in less than 30 minutes, than to have to use crappy, expensive union labor at every trade show.
"Thanks, union members."
I got a part-time job offer which required joining a union. In addition to monthly union dues, from which I would gain no benefits, I would have had to pay the union $500 just to start. I couldn't do that.
"Thanks, union members."
I used to know an idiot anabolic-steroid-abusing Longshoreman who was a so-called "shop steward." He used to sit at my friends' bar and BRAG about how he and his fellow union thugs isolated and ganged up on and beat up non-union workers.
"Thanks, union members."
I could go on, NO story positive.
