Google makes you pick one primary category. That pick decides which searches you're even eligible to appear for — not your website, not your reviews, not how long you've been in business.

Most contractors in Lake County pick the broadest option available, because it sounds the most complete. It's usually the wrong one. "General Contractor" competes against everyone. "Deck Builder" competes against the four other people who actually build decks.

Secondary categories are free, and most profiles have none set at all.
