Hickory Nut Falls in Autumn - Took this photo last October, and am finally getting around to posting it. If you've never been to Chimney Rock State Park in North Carolina it's definitely worth a visit during the Fall. I visited the location in the Fall of 2020 as well, but the leaves were knocked off by a hurricane the day before I showed up, so I had to make a second visit to cross an item off of my landscape photography bucket list. Was lucky enough to see a black bear on the trail while hiking too (he ran away the second he saw me and a few other hikers). The image was taken during late sunrise.

Looking North - If you've ever wanted to have McAfee K**b yourself all you gotta do is go on a slightly rainy day. You'll even be rewarded with cool sights like this...assuming the clouds aren't blocking your view. Also I love the little pillar of smoke coming up from behind Tinker Cliffs (hopefully it's just a bonfire and not something tragic happening).

Forgot to set an alarm to wake up for sunrise, and woke up as it was ending. Rushed like a madman to this overlook to take this shot right at the tail end of sunrise.

Took this image right outside of Mount Mitchell State Park in North Carolina about a month ago. I was shocked by how much higher the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Parkway were compared to the northernmost section of the Parkway near where I live. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been!

FINALLY upgraded to a full frame camera after 7 years as a photographer! You wanna know the quickest way to make money as a photographer? Sell your expensive camera gear. Seriously though this stuff costs way too much lol. To celebrate here are a few images of my brother's foster cat and her newborn kittens taken with my new Canon R6!

Elevate - Took this image along Coffee Road during the tail end of an ice storm! Drove around for about 3 hours hoping to get a cool photo of the Blue Ridge Parkway with snow on it, but the cloud cover made it impossible. Luckily, I saw another small local mountain covered in ice and fog and stopped for a shot. Love how just a short way up the mountain the trees were still ice covered even though the ice had all melted at the lower elevations.

Exult - The road up to Cole Mountain is difficult to get up on a good weather day let alone when there's snow on the ground. On the day I took this shot I had to help the car in front of me get unstuck (good thing I brought a shovel), and then hiked past three other cars which had slid and crashed into each other. I got stuck in the mud there years ago so I knew to come prepared and I'm glad my knowledge helped someone out (someone had similarly helped me get out so I feel like I've paid it forward now).

I decided to hike up the road to the parking lot instead of giving up which added on an extra mile or two, but seeing the summit in the snow at sunset was worth it...even if it was intensely cold.

Fall Along the James River - Shots taken on a foggy morning during Fall on the James River. Had to climb up a weird steep hillside next to the highway to get a clear vantage point on top of a cliff to take this shot (and then unexpectedly sprint back down when I suddenly had to go to the bathroom). I think it was worth it though!

Sharp Top/Flat Top Sunrise - Sharp Top and Flat Top as seen at sunrise from McAfee's K**b! It's always fun to see the mountains you've hiked from miles and miles away and think about how you've been on top of those too.

Legs of Stone - Love the quiet overlook on the Sulphur Spring trail! It's a short and easy hike to the overlook, but watch for spiders. Saw a few big ones while I was there! Also I didn't smell any sulfur...or see any springs so not sure where the name comes from.

The Priest - I always read about how difficult of a hike The Priest was on hiking websites around the internet. Turns out if you're at least moderately in shape it's difficult, but doable. It also helps if you don't miss the overlook like I did...I ended up going about an extra mile.
