These men and women need so much appreciation!!

One..Two..Three babies that we spent time in NICU with from a couple weeks to a few months. Our NICU nurses were always amazing. They helped us to understand what was going on with our babies and dumbed it down in terms we could understand. They worked with us on how to care for each one when we returned home as well as all the "tricks of the trade" to help soothe a NAS/FAS/Special Needs baby. We worked through many different concoctions of drugs and alcohol, failure to thrive and feeding issues. Our nurses taught us how to make rice bags for warmth and compression, tricks to holding a bottle when a baby had poor oral motor function, and help us over the fear of a G-tube and so very much more.

Your open/semi open adoption agreement in some states can be upheld in a court of law. When you are plannig what your open adoption will include in regards to communication and visits within the adoption triad truly take the time to consider all aspects of life not just now, but life 5 to 10 years from now. It is important you discuss this openly with the Birth Mother/Father if possible prior to creating a final document if required as part of your adoption plan.

NERVE WRECKING! That is what our home study always felt like and it never got any easier. I always felt as if we would be found "lacking". This process is a neccessary part of any type of adoption and can take 6 months to a year to complete.
