It’s finally that time of year again! Christmas lights! Ice skating rinks! Men with human heads for shoulders and hybrid dog-chickens emerging from icy waters! It really IS the most wonderful time of year.

Londoners were horrified to come across a seemingly AI-generated Christmas mural in the popular Kingston Riverside area depicting that classic holiday scene of revelers at a market atop an icy river—with bodies half-human, half-animal; missing limbs; distorted faces; and a snowman that would make Frosty himself weep.

While the ownership of the mural remains a mystery, the lesson does not: proof your AI-generated images. AI can be a powerful graphic-design tool, but this creepy reminder tells us that it’s only as useful as the humans overseeing it. If you don’t carefully review and revise your AI-generated images, others will be left with nightmares and a therapist’s bill that even ChatGPT can’t make go away.

When X launched its “country of origin” feature revealing the locations where accounts are actually based, Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, said this was “an important first step in preserving the integrity of the global town square.” However, the move has only sown chaos in the town square.

Numerous accounts pushing political agendas on both sides of the aisle were shown to be located outside the U.S. This poses serious questions about the continuation of foreign actors trying to influence American politics through social media. It brings to mind the findings in the Mueller Report showing that the Russian-led Internet Research Agency (IRA) worked to steer the 2016 election in Trump’s favor. On Facebook it was estimated that Russia-linked content may have reached up to 126 million users, and Twitter notified about 1.4 million users that they may have interacted with Russia-linked accounts.

However, the rollout has been plagued by issues and many experts and former X employees cast doubt on the accuracy of this new geolocation feature. Some of these out-of-country accounts can certainly be chalked up to VPN use and several NBC journalists' locations showed the countries to which they had recently traveled, not the locations where they were actually based. One expert noted the rollout was “botched” due to X’s use of “unreliable data sources and the lack of consideration for “the effect of the feature on persecuted dissidents.”

X briefly paused the feature before adding it back. The company formerly known as Twitter says it is working on ensuring the feature’s accuracy.

Meta has announced new PG-13 content ratings for all teen accounts on Instagram, part of an effort to further hide mature content from teens. Instagram already restricts sexual content, graphic violence, and the promotion of to***co and alcohol. The new policy expands this by hiding or not recommending posts with strong language, certain risky stunts, and additional content that could encourage harmful behaviors — including posts showing ma*****na paraphernalia.

Chats between teens and Meta AI will also follow a PG-13 standard. This update comes after Reuters reported that an internal Meta document allowed “romantic or sensual” AI chats with children; Meta says it is revising that document. The company will also use age-prediction technology to identify teens who may have lied about their age and restrict their content accordingly.

Parents will gain more control over what their teens see on Instagram. A new “limited content” setting will allow parents to filter out additional content and restrict whether teens can see, leave, or receive comments. Parents can also limit conversations with Meta AI. Instagram will also roll out a pilot program that shows parents examples of the types of content their teens might encounter and asks them to rate its appropriateness.

On Tuesday morning, did ChatGPT ghost you right when you were asking whether your haphazardly written email draft was insightful or HR-material? Did League of Legends pretend you didn’t exist? Did every transit app suddenly enter Witness Protection?

Yeah — it wasn’t personal. Cloudflare’s massive outage dragged one of the internet’s usually invisible backstage players into a very bright (and very unwanted) spotlight.

A huge range of sites and apps went down: ChatGPT, X, “League of Legends,” Shopify, NJ Transit’s site, and even DownDetector (the irony writes itself).

Cloudflare isn’t flashy, but it’s everywhere: about 20% of the world’s websites rely on its network to load securely and quickly. When Cloudflare hiccups, the internet doesn’t cough, it face-plants. Tuesday’s outage made that painfully clear. And it comes on the heels of major disruptions at Microsoft Azure (and earlier, AWS) just last month.

Cloudflare’s CTO didn’t tiptoe around it either. His public apology made the tone clear: “I won’t mince words: earlier today we failed our customers and the broader Internet when a problem in the Cloudflare network impacted large amounts of traffic that rely on us.”

We live in a world built on digital safety, reliability, and speed — and Cloudflare usually delivers all three. But yesterday was a sobering reminder of just how few companies hold up the systems we depend on every minute of every day. When a giant stumbles, the dominoes fall fast.

Ahead of the 2026 midterms and elections cycle, Meta announced that it is easing authorization requirements for advertisers to run social issue, electoral, or political ads in the United States. While advertisers will still need to get authorized, Meta notes that these changes will make it easier for advertisers to run political, social issue, or electoral ads.

Meta writes that these steps “have created a source of friction for US advertisers while creating redundancies with our global authorization requirements.” Identity verification will still be required as will “Paid for by” disclaimers on ads. Meta also notes that they have spent over $30 billion on safety and security.

Where your audience spends their digital time should shape your advertising and content strategy.

Take women’s workwear brand M.M.LaFleur. They recognized that their core audience—professional women—was highly active on LinkedIn. So instead of relying solely on email, they began publishing their digital newsletter directly on the platform where professionals of all ages now gather (LinkedIn reports that Gen Z is its fastest-growing demographic).

The result? Their subscriber list surged, and so did their page followers, page views, comments, and reactions. Most importantly, the content strategy drove real sales.

The takeaway isn’t simply that LinkedIn can be a powerful retail channel. It’s that every organization—whether a retailer, a campaign, a nonprofit, or anyone looking to build authentic connection—should show up where their audience already is.

Meet them there, and the results will follow.

M.M.LaFleur is posting more organic content on LinkedIn. Now, it's tracing sales and engagement back to the platform

Well, the song “Video Killed the Radio Star” was only half right. Audio isn’t dead—but video is definitely winning.

Axios reports that PwC projects digital video advertising to hit $98.6 billion, compared to just $8.4 billion for digital audio. And the platforms are taking notice.

Spotify has teamed up with Netflix to bring select video podcasts—and their ads—to the streamer. Meanwhile, Netflix is going all-in: they’re reportedly signing a deal with iHeartMedia and sending out calls to talent agents as they hunt for more video-first podcasters.

The message is clear: podcasts aren’t just for your ears anymore.

Brands that understand the power of the screen as much as the mic are the ones that will be heard the loudest.

The streamer will host select Spotify video podcasts starting in 2026.

When optimizing your content for a wide reach, you want to identify the watering holes. Reddit is one worth watching.

Reddit is no longer just a hub for organic conversations, but a content well for large language models. OpenAI and Google signed licensing deals with Reddit and content from that platform now often ends up in your AI search summaries. In fact, recent reports and analyses show that Reddit appears more than any other source in Google’s AI Overview and is the second most cited platform across generative AI search results.

Companies such as Sonos, GM, Spotify, Fidelity, and Wayfair are engaging with consumers on the platform, and Reddit recently launched advertising tools so marketers can gather insights to drive decisions around paid content placement.

If you’re looking to reach audiences and AI, it may be time for you to join the Reddit threads.

Some prominent Democrats and Democratic-aligned institutions are reckoning with donors burned out from the tired old fundraising tactics. It’s not just the volume of texts and emails, but the ploys that range from the alarmist (think: democracy will perish if you don’t donate) to the exaggerated (think: your donation will receive an 800% match).

Some politicians, candidates, and PACs are forging a new path. EMILY’s List’s new program “Friends of the List” gives grassroots donors the opportunity to give at least $15 a month in return for fewer fundraising calls and exclusive content on their Substack. Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s subscribers received screenshots of deceptive messages and a promise that “nothing will ever make us treat you like this.” After sending a cease-and-desist letter to a “scam pac,” the DNC told their supporters that “you’re not an ATM, and don’t deserve to be treated like one.”

Will more individuals and organizations follow suit to disrupt the played-out approaches exhausting donors? Time will tell. But it’s worth noting that these new strategies emphasize relationships built on transparency and trust. Whether you’re fundraising for a campaign or a cause, showing respect for your base builds connection and credibility, which in turn boosts your opportunities to convert your supporters into sponsors.

Locked out of power in D.C. and struggling to map out a clear message for voters, some Democrats are rethinking their fundraising tactics.

Looking to connect with your audience while scaling the heights of search engine rankings? The article (that old reliable) might be worth your attention.

According to a recent piece in Techloy, this dependable long-form format doesn’t just reach, persuade, and convert your audience; it builds your SEO by keeping your brand visible and driving demonstrable traffic.

Techloy argues that a strategically written article (complete with the right keywords, backlinks, and unmistakably human-generated expertise) remains evergreen even after the campaign budget runs dry. Articles can also generate 3x times the traffic and 4x times the shares compared to shorter posts (getting you a higher search engine ranking), and demonstrate EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trust) which builds credibility in the age of AI and is rewarded by Google’s algorithms.

In a world where new technologies emerge every week, sometimes it might be best not to overthink it; digital marketing’s older tools can still get you the result you want.

Discover why high-quality articles are more valuable than ever in digital content marketing. Learn how consistent content drives engagement and authority.
