I started Invisible Man because I was annoyed at creatives who put their satisfaction before their clients. Like, way before.

Since then, at times, I have fallen short of that ideal—self-righteously using a weapon I have called "expertise" to defend my ambition and security unconsciously.

Still, in this time, I have maintained a particular insight into the transformative nature of vulnerability understood as a touchstone for the extraordinary. And so I have grown in usefulness because of mistakes.

In the fifth year of Invisible Man, we ask you to imagine yourself at your most authentic: laughing, free, serving others, as only you can. Without effort, you communicate utility, vitality, and potency.

The task here is not to define ourselves to ourselves; it is to communicate what's real. The challenge is that communicating "ourselves" (let alone our magic) is a little like asking a fish to explain water.

So let's start here—What are you *not*? What you not want your brand to be?
