First of all I hope everyone had a safe a blessed holiday season. Second of all I want to say thank you to all of our family, friends and customers. We want to thank our kids, son-in-laws, and Doug and Sandy Peterson for helping with carriage season.
Being a small business owner leaves a fine line between family and business. You want to be with family, but have to run the business to take care of that family.
It was discovered in late November that Jeff has massive blood clots in his leg and lungs. It was a scary discovery. He will most likely be on blood thinners for quite a while. He is doing okay, but we are monitoring it closely.
The first of December we moved my mom to a nursing home because of health decline.
With all of these things going on, we made the decision to not take any new orders in the month of December so that I could spend as much time as possible with my mom. I know we disappointed several customers that we couldn’t fill their orders. But for me I’m glad I was able to spend the time with my mom. She went to be with God on Christmas Day. I was there with her when she passed. Being our own boss allowed that for me. I was where I needed to be.
I make this post not because we want sympathy. I make this post to say be patient with small business owners. You don’t know what is going on with their lives. You don’t see what is on the other side. Don’t make a snap decision to cut someone down because they are not there to fill your need. Have compassion and ask. Most of the time they will tell you.
Again, thank you to all who have helped us through this crazy season. We couldn’t have done it without you.
