Let's clear the air: TikTok can be a great tool, and so can Instagram but it's not they’re only path to business success. There are loads of businesses raking in profits without ever making a TikTok or Reel.

Does this mean they're on the brink of becoming obsolete?

Far from it. These savvy operators are just pinpointing where their time and money yield the most impact for their brand. It’s all about strategic investment.

Take relocating to a new city as a case in point. ✨

When someone’s planning a move, they're not necessarily scrolling through TikTok for advice. More often, they're diving into Facebook groups to connect with future neighbors, seeking out referrals, and yes, hitting Google for the inside scoop on their new locale.

It’s a classic example of how businesses succeed by meeting their audience where they're at, not just where the hype is.

What this really highlights is a key marketing insight: know your audience and be where they are. 👏

It’s not about being on every platform under the sun but being present where it makes the most sense for your target customers. So, focus on those platforms where your future customers are actively seeking information and engaging.

That’s where your marketing efforts will truly shine, with or without TikTok in your arsenal. 😉

Here’s why I chose the path of marketing —

In marketing, it’s all about making sure people think of you, your brand, and what you offer when it counts.

It's like planting seeds. Not everyone’s ready to buy the moment they learn about you.
But, the game-changer here is being that familiar name they see pop up just when they’re ready to make a move.

Keep posting and being visible so when it’s go-time, they’re picking you out of the crowd.

Here it comes. Will we be saying goodbye to TikTok soon?

Today, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce has unanimously passed a bill mandating ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok, to sell off its stake in the well-known video-sharing application within six months to avoid a comprehensive ban in the US.

This move, according to media specialists, means that advertisers and creators need to carefully reassess their approaches. For the complete report, see below.

The Chinese-owned app is facing renewed pressure from US lawmakers over national security concerns. The development, experts say, should act as a warning sign for advertisers and creators.

Okay I am going to come out and say it —- If you're a business owner who has been impacted by the recent outages of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, this serves as an important wake-up call. Relying too heavily on these platforms for growth and visibility can leave your business vulnerable.

**think AT&T’s recent outage and how crippling it felt to have no phone service!

While social media is an incredibly powerful marketing tool, it should never be the only avenue you depend on for acquiring new customers and building your brand's presence. These centralized platforms can experience disruptions beyond your control, as we've just witnessed.

It's time to diversify your marketing efforts and focus on building a robust, multi-channel strategy that doesn't leave you at the mercy of a single platform's performance.

Here are a few suggestions to help insulate your business:

🏡 **Double Down on Local Marketing**: Build stronger connections within your local community through grassroots efforts like networking events, sponsorships, and community involvement. Word-of-mouth and local reputation can be invaluable drivers of business growth.

📰 **Explore Traditional Advertising**: Don't overlook tried-and-true advertising channels like print, radio, and direct mail. These can be effective ways to reach your target audience, especially for location-based businesses.

💻 **Invest in Your Own Platform**: Cultivate your owned media channels like a website, blog, and email list. These allow you to directly engage with your audience without relying on third-party platforms.

🤝 **Foster Community Engagement**: Build a loyal following by creating spaces for your customers to connect, whether through in-person events, online forums, or user groups. Engaged communities can become powerful advocates for your brand.

While social media's importance cannot be understated, this outage serves as a reminder not to put all your eggs in one basket. A diversified marketing approach that combines social media with other channels will help ensure your business remains resilient and visible, no matter what disruptions may arise.

The key is to take control of your brand's narrative and build marketing channels you truly own. That way, your business won't be left scrambling when the next social media outage inevitably occurs.

Who doesn't love amazing feedback 💕

I always ask for feedback. No matter where I am in my business, no matter how new a service or product may be. Why?

Because there's nothing more powerful than seeing how someone else benefits from what you do. I am still a work in progress. I always say that there are things that can be improved or be more efficient but I don't let it stop me from asking.

Hearing Kim's words made me so happy! Not just because me and my team where doing a great job but because I gave her back something so valuable: TIME.

As a Mom, Wife and Business Owner I understand what it means to want that successful business that runs like a well oiled machine all while getting to run out for a few hours to take my kids to dance, soccer, the park or off for a mini-vacation.

The other amazing piece of perspective that Kim shared is that she can focus on her business. An overwhelming number of business owners are seeing that spending all their time on social media, emails and other aspects of marketing isn't where they need to be. It's not their strong suit and ends up being very overwhelming.

It's impossible to know the true value of your product or service if you don't ask for feedback.

Thank you to Kim for sharing her thoughts on me and my team!! :)

Humble bragging moment here…

This month , 8 years ago I started my business. I was 7 months pregnant with my first babe and decided I was tired. I was tired of the recruiting and HR world. I was even more tired of working so hard for someone else to take the credit.

My husband luckily agreed with me. He wanted me to be happier in my day to day life and have the freedom we knew I needed to be a Mom to my kiddo.

So we invested in my first Pro Camera and I started literally photographing EVERYTHING. While I can ramble on and on about how much I remember from that first year I want to point out a few things that you or a friend you know can carry with them as they tackle the world that is online business - product or service.

First - Plan. That seems easy and maybe an eye roll but what’s the saying you can’t get somewhere if you don’t know where you’re going. Planning is one of the hardest things when it seems like the world is at your fingertips so plan a small achievement - book 1 client, post 1 reel, put out that 1 offer or connect with a valuable source. Set small KPI’s that help you see what you’ve done.

Two - You don’t know what you don’t know. So when it feels personal to get less than perfect reviews, take feedback from clients or hear (what feels like a harsh) comment from a friend or colleague, take them in. Ask yourself truly what could have gone differently, what went well and what can you take away from it. Did you love it? Did you prepare? Could you have given an instruction or tutorial to better the experience.

We’ve all been there but noting this for your customers or clients will make a WORLD of a difference in how you can fine tune and create an experience not just a purchase.

So as I celebrate 8 years, I want to take a moment to pass the buck. Have a question, need some insight? Send me a DM :)

No lie, the feed preview and new graphic design options for Instagram are still, hands down, every Clients favorite!

Against all odds the “pretty feed” isn’t going away but has definitely shifted. It’s not 💯 perfect colors combos and repeated graphics but… it’s still nicely coordinated, fun and with an added touch of real! 😉
