Johnston County’s best middle school track & field athletes shined on Monday at the Johnston County Middle School Track Championship.

Cleveland’s boys team and Riverwood’s girls team won the championships, but there were a number of standout individual performances too.

Marvin Ridge's girls basketball team went on the road and beat Porter Ridge 53-45 on Wednesday night.

Marvin Ridge is now 20-3 on the season and a perfect 11-0 in conference play. Porter Ridge falls to 18-4.

North Mecklenburg claimed a 66-60 win over Independence on the road on Tuesday night.

The Vikings had to hold off the Patriots in the fourth quarter. Independence outscored North Mecklenburg 23-19 in the final frame, but couldn't overcome the 10-point deficit.

North Mecklenburg is now 19-4 overall and 8-1 in the Meck Power Six Conference. Independence falls to 12-11 overall and 4-5 in the conference.
