My parents and my daughter's family (her, hubby and 8 month old Pyper) lost everything including their homes. They lived on the same property right beside Herbert Hoover High School... my dad's home place where he grew up.
My parents didn't have flood insurance because they thought it cost $1000's per year. And my daughter's insurance won't cover an act of God.
This has been the hardest week in all our lives. Two families are homeless and have had to beg and borrow for the very shoes on their feet. You spend all your energy getting thru each moment, just putting one foot in front of the other. Trying not to think to hard about what you are dragging out of the mud in the house because if you do you will never stop crying.
Everyday brings a whole new series of gut punches. Your insurance tell you your are not covered. You remember something precious that is gone. You go thru photo albums and find irreplaceable memories reduced to smears. You find the few quilts still left my grandma made in a pile of mud. The baby's room was particularly hard.
I am not exaggerating when I say this may be the only hope my parents and my daughter's family have to start over. 100% of the funds will be used to help offset the cost of water damage and replacing furniture, appliances, flooring, clothes, baby supplies, and whatever else needs to be done. If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
