True story👇

This was one of the most memorable Thanksgivings, not because of what went right but what went wrong.

It’s kind of like in business. You can have a plan, or you can roll with the (tiny) punches and see how things work out.

Genie and I still laugh at the audacity we had to try and force a holiday-sized meal at the very last second. But we didn’t mind too much. We were preparing for something bigger.

Eight days later our princess was born 👑 and every moment before that seemed to pale in comparison.

Prepare for the big things, improvise when you can, but there’s always something bigger around the corner.

If you find yourself in a boring industry, congratulations! It's your time to shine in the branding department.

Think about it. If everyone else is gray, one SIMPLE way to stand out is to wear.... anything but gray.

Take it to the next level: swap the gray for an eye-popping neon green or pink, and you've got the recipe to stand out purely by color choice.

Level up once more: if it's standard practice in your industry to wear something formal like a suit and tie, what if you committed to wearing your preferred clothing instead? Are you more of a tank-top-and-cargo-shorts professional? Put that in your marketing material or advertisement.

Imagine how uniquely you would be positioned to help people who are afraid to talk with the suit-and-tie guys!

Clothes and color are just scratching the surface when it comes to differentiating yourself. There's also language choice (formal vs casual), advertising choice (digital vs analog), and more.

BOTTOM LINE: the more boring the niche, the easier it is to be the un-boring alternative.

I'm going to give it to you straight.

When you make a decision to stand out, as uncomfortable as it may seem, people take notice.

And when people take notice, they take action.

I experienced this a few years ago when I started posting my tiny hands videos on my
"professional account" (this one) instead of my personal account.

The more my content reflected my true self – a silly, playful & informed creative – the more people started booking strategy calls with me and becoming clients.

So instead of me begging for prospect to take me seriously, people were begging to work with me.

The lesson for you? Start doubling down on what makes you UNIQUE, and you can start reaping the benefits of undivided attention and attraction.

Here's a dirty little secret. The profits are found in the Pain.

Say what?

Pain. Customers have it. And they're willing to pay money to get rid of it.

That's where your business comes in. Plain and simple: your business exists to reduce or remove pain.

Pain is what drives customers to you. Pain is why they're willing to pay you. Pain is your customer's enemy, but Pain is your friend.

So start more talking about pain in your marketing and you'll start paving a way to more profits.

A confused mind doesn't take action. Quit bombarding your newsletter with a ton of links. Start getting focused on what you want your target audience to take action on.

Is it to book a call? Is it to join a nurture sequence? Is it to buy something? Figure out the ONE thing and make that the main Call To Action in your email.

You'll start to see your click-through rates increase significantly.

And if you keep that up, you'll see your open rates increase as well.

Want to stay top of mind for your target audience? You should be sending a lot more emails than once every 30 days. My suggestion: once a WEEK.

Imagine being the go-to resource on your subject matter for your list of customers and prospects. That's the power of adding value to their inbox every week as opposed to once a month.

They may not be ready to purchase from you today, but when the time comes to take action they'll be more inclined to work with you, the trusted guide.

Don't overcomplicate your marketing emails. A simple touch point every week is all that's needed, even if it's just a single paragraph about what's happening in your business or in your industry.

I believe in you. Keep going.
