I remember setting up for my first ever vendor event in 2017 at a local community college. I had no clue what I was doing, had never been to a networking event before, and showed up in the fanciest sundress and heels that I owned.

Everyone else was dressed in “business professional” and here I am completely decked out, looking like I’m about to go eat sushi on the beach.

Looking back, my outfit was prob a mistake, but it sparked curiosity in what I was there to sell, which was a wellness journal. I remember being thrilled to have sold $300 worth of a product that most people didn’t even know how to use.

Moral of the story- Stay delulu, take risks, show up as a beginner, work extremely hard, & do it your way on your terms. 😉

Jk I love my job lol. For so long, I had no clue what I was doing or where my many side quests would lead. Fast forward to present day, I realize each stepping stone taught me the skills, resilience, and confidence to embrace the art of continuing to step out of my comfort zone.

Take the work seriously, but don’t take yourself too serious along the journey. 🤍

I’ve been collecting inspiration from the internet since before it was called “content.” 

When I was in high school, I used to wake up at 5 a.m., pour a cup of coffee, and scroll Pinterest looking for quotes, photos, and anything that sparked a feeling of inspiration.

Even now, I still find myself going back to this practice. Whether it’s ideas for work, home, cooking, fitness, or just life, it helps reconnect me to that creative mindset I had back then. Especially now, when social media can feel like a constant stream of negativity.

And it reminds me of something I see brands often mess up…

So many businesses think they need perfectly curated photos and highly produced videos to connect with their audience. But people aren’t looking for perfect, they’re looking for something human.

Your audience wants to see themselves in your story- the beginner stage, the messy middle, and the journey from where they are now to where they could be with your product or service.

Save this for the next time you feel pressure to make your content “perfect.”

The secret to feeling more confident filming talking videos (A Roll) on social media is… 🥁

PRACTICE! Way more than you think you should. Talk to yourself in the mirror, while you’re loading the dishwasher, while you’re driving, I don’t care just put in lots and lots of reps until it feels kinda normal. 😉

I promise people don’t think you’re as cringy as YOU think you are. Your business is counting on you show up as your best and your customers want to know they can trust you.

So instead of faking it until you make it, practice until it becomes something you don’t feel like you have to fake!

But in all seriousness, there is more to it than just an aesthetically pleasing grid…

One of the most important and overlooked pieces of managing social media accounts is right in the name- being social! This is where relationships are nurtured, potential clients come to your page to find a solution to the problem they’re facing, and the content actually converts in a number of different ways (including turning leads into sales!)

Me when I forget my clients had normal childhoods & didn’t in fact both direct and star in theatrical productions with the cousins, neighbors, friends, my grandpa, & anyone who would willingly participate 😂
