Whew.. Let's get into my most recent cruise onboard the Carnival Conquest this past weekend. Celebrating the prelude to my neice Tia's 30th birthday, along with my neice Honey and god-daughter Lay.
To start. The embarkation was extremely fast paced, no long lines, no unnecessary drama etc.
And security...had me wondering if we were heading onto a military base. Every ten steps, was show your passport and boarding pass.
All jokes aside.
Entrance line, walk ten steps someone else asks the same, ten more steps, same question, turn the corner, same question, walk the ropes, same question, look at the escalators you looking too hard, same question, go up escalator, cross the plank, walk the bridge, turn the corner. Same.....eee questions..
Chile just keep it out..Because THEY ARE GOING TO ASK. (I mean from the escalator to the walkway, which is over the water, I'm just wondering did I fly down from the sky, or swim from underneath, because just why?) But I digress because security definitely did their job..
PROS:
1. Muster drill really quick
2. Entertainment was a TOP TEN. That dang on Filipe was absolution amazing and energetic. He makes me wait to take a longer cruise.
3. Guys Burger well worth the line
4. The Blue Iguana delicious. That steakhouse too.. Omg
5. The Sweet Spot. Just ship me some turtle brownies, raspberry mousse cake and German chocolate squares. Oh and the butter cookies that taste like they were baked with love and would make an awesome crumble on top of the Ice cream. I couldn't indulge though I surely was tempted.
6. Guest services..Amazing....I forgot the young lady's name but she was super nice. All of them really. The short one who we laughed with and the taller one with the shoulder length hair...uuughh I hate i forgot my paper I wrote the names on.
(My items were confiscated but she did her 1 & 2 to get them back to me..above and beyond)
7. The nightclub...what can i say...HYPED AND CRAZY PACKED HOUSE OF AMAZING ENERGY AND DJ'S. 10 OUT OF 10
8. Comedy show both kid-friendly and late-night. (Word of advice don't arrive late..you WILL be roasted)
9. Ship crew...PLEASE TIP THEM..that ship stayed clean
10. Last but not least. My room steward.. (I don't do housekeeping anywhere I stay. But everyday he made my Ice was in the room) Deck 1. Please tip aside from pre-paid gratuities because those rooms stayed clean and stocked.
11. Oh another thing..Deck 1 did me good I did not get motion sickness for the 1st time ever. Room 3124 was a perfectly centered oceanview.
CONS: (Not a lot)
1. Buffet subpar.. enough to fill a need but nothing to jump for joy
2. Adult pool area was BORING....GG
3. Elevators super slow, always crowded and don't let it be embarkation or disembarkment.. I have a bum knee so definitely was an experience to be told to go another way after you've been waiting and instructed that you could in fact use them, just to be told no).
4. Celebration Key... so we purchased bus passes to go to Paradise Cove. Not throughly explained that 1. Have set to go and be returned back to ship) mostly everyone thought it was a come and go when you've had enough beach time. Nope..
Good thing we met some awesome workers there: Aaron (cart driver) and Paulette(bartender/waitress who made the day so much better.
All in all the cruise was great as a 1st time Carnival guest. I still don't understand the difference in placing your wine/water in carry-on vs Checked if they are both going through security. Lesson learned for next time.. and YES WE ARE ALREADY PLANNING Carnival Glory next March..(so if you've been tell what to look for or look out for).
