Ohio Plantations: Prison 102

Ohio Plantations: Prison 102 This page is dedicated to the Ohio prison population and is committed to abolishing all prisons.

At the core of our mission is the economic reform of the Ohio prison system's inmate pay and compensation program. This disenfranchisement has been allowed to operate for over 4 decades without interruption. Modern corrections demand that these exploitative and money hungry ideas be abandoned, in exchange for more viable work assignments and pay.

This is a must read. The victim's daughter's address after the ex*****on should be published. This is the critical thinking and honesty which will abolish the death penalty.

We are still here. Received a message allegedly from Facebook about some sort of violation of copyright or some bullshyt. Said they were shutting down the page. Right! And another one will re-emerge. You can't stop the truth. Stop playing. Like I said years ago: We ain't going nowhere until the PIC is abolished.

I guess it's safe to say that the spotlight will be on Picaway Correctional Institution, Orient, Ohio. Within these walls lies one of Ohio's most profitable slaveships, The Pickaway Meat Processing Plantation.

A ton of pros and cons here. This makes for good dialogue. I'm always going to weigh in for the economic benefit of the imprisoned. It's important to know the whole OPI experience is a vetting process. Kind of like being on an auction block. The main prerequisites are a docile attitude and a long sentence. Being selected to work in OPI is akin to working in Massah's Big House...ijs

So true of those who are bent on incarceration solving the world's oldest issues. Addicted to drugs? Incarcerate them! Non violent offense? Incarcerate them! Violent offense? Incarcerate them to the max! Take a life? Murder the perpetrator, but do so discriminately. Can't make bail? Guilty! Can't afford a lawyer? Guilty!
Jail clothes on during trial? Super guilty!!
We have to change this.

These are the type of rehabilitative measure I support, i.e., those programs which teach prisoners skills which can be used once returned to society.

Madison Correctional Institution held a Stephen’s Ministry Graduation for eight incarcerated adults who received their certification as Human Service Assistants. They will be utilized in the restricted housing unit as another support layer for those currently assigned to that area.

I don't agree with the wages paid the incarcerated. I believe that if you perform a service, then you should be paid for that service. Furthermore, the wage should not change because you are incarcerated. To do so is to create a black market of labor. I'll save that another time. What is important here is the prisoner is learning a trade and then being paid in the process. Kind of makes it easier to swallow.

I am so disappointed in those who return from Ohio Plantations but lose their voice. I'm talking about way after parole or PRC has been completed, there is no "reach back" in words or deeds to help change the quality of life for those left behind.
This is the topic we will delve into for our upcoming series entitled Am I My Brother's Reaper?" Should we, as free people, have to reach back to someone locked away to assist, knowing the frustrations, barriers, disappointments, etc.? Or, do we reflect upon the helplessness and oppression we once felt on the plantation ourselves? Stay tuned for updates and other information on our live lecture series.
