It’s funny how clearly we can see the path once we reach a destination; even when, during the journey, it felt confusing, frustrating, and completely uncertain.
The last few years have brought a lot of change for me, both personally and professionally. For the past decade, I built a career in digital marketing with a company I truly loved. I worked alongside incredible people, supported small businesses, and made a real impact.
But when the company was acquired last year, everything shifted. I stayed, hoping things would improve, hoping new doors would open, hoping it would eventually feel right. The truth is: it didn’t. I struggled. I wasn’t successful in the new environment, and even harder to admit, I wasn’t happy.
During that time, I leaned heavily into networking and built relationships that became anchors. One of those connections was Ed Koenig of Lifestyle Landscaping, Inc.
Our story goes way back:
• We first connected almost 10 years ago when he was at a different company.
• Our last meeting before the world shut down in 2020 was about the possibility of working together on marketing someday.
• Not long after, he returned to, and eventually purchased, the company where he began his career, Lifestyle Landscaping.
• Over time, we ended up in the same weekly networking group, where many watched me slowly lose my spark in the role I was trying so hard to make work.
At one point, Ed mentioned he needed ground crew members, and I joked to someone, “Honestly, I’d be happier mowing lawns for Ed than staying where I am.” We laughed, but later I realized I wasn’t really joking.
So, I asked him if there might be a place for me at Lifestyle. He was surprised I’d even consider it, and at the time there wasn’t a fit… but I didn’t let the door close.
A few months later, he shared that he was looking for new team members, and I reached out again; this time making sure he knew I was serious.
And today, I’m thrilled to share that beginning December 1st, I’ll be joining Lifestyle Landscaping as part of their Sales & Marketing team.
If you’d told me 10 years ago that my path would lead here, I never would have believed you. But now that I’m standing at this turning point, the whole journey finally makes sense.
I’m excited. I’m grateful. And I’m ready for what’s next.
Here’s to new chapters; and to trusting the path, even when you can’t yet see where it leads.
