Every year, Designed by Kelly partners with We Care Connection in St. Louis, MO, to empower underprivileged teens (ages 14–18) through a free online course — How to Start and Market a Mock Business.

Over six engaging classes, students learn how to name, brand, and promote their mock business — and it all culminates at “Evening of Elegance,” where I join via Zoom to personally graduate each student. 💻

This year, I had the privilege of graduating five amazing young women who each received a certification and a free laptop to continue their design journey and give them the jumpstart they need to be successful. 🎉

Giving back is at the heart of what we do. Through donations of time, services, and financial support, we’re proud to make a difference in communities near and far. 💛

We are excited to be teaching the class to our community at the Kingwood Library next week on How To Build Your Brand! Check it out!

Are you ready to bring your business idea to life? Join local professional designers Kelly Thomas and Cara Williams of Designed by Kelly for a fun, interactive workshop that teaches you how to build your brand from the ground up using Canva.com. Whether you’re just starting a business or looking to refresh your current one, this session will walk you through the creative process of building a cohesive brand—no expensive software required!

Participants will learn how to define their brand identity, choose the right colors and fonts, and create basic marketing materials like a logo, business card, and flyer. The class will wrap up with a 30-minute live design session where attendees receive professional feedback and hands-on help from the instructors.

If you do not arrive by 6:05 pm, your spot may be given to a patron on the waitlist.

Last week, my friend and client Author Annette O'Hare visited the Digital Design class where I teach technology classes a few days a week to share her publishing journey and the important role that design plays in bringing books to life.

My students just completed their very first digital children’s books, and Annette graciously took the time to review their projects and provide valuable feedback. Her insight gave our students a real-world look at how creativity and design work hand in hand in publishing.
